Reptile Spam

Man Eater

I know I'm going to get a little bit of hate for posting this thread, but why doesn't Reptile have a timer set on how often he can use his run attack?

I just fought a guy that spammed his run attack and if I blocked it, he would do his super fast slide. I was practicing with Noob who isn't the fastest character out there so it was kind of difficult. I know people hate when some people say they should nerf a character but this is rediculous that they can spam that crap.

Oh and the best part was, he left as soon as he won saying I got raped. I tried to rematch him with Mileena and got no reply and he didn't accept my game invite. Man I just love the community

Reptile's Elbow Dash is completely balanced, you have to know how to react to Reptile because his move are mostly ground based and involv quickly closing the distance, otherwise he has to rely on a very slow anti-air special attack, the force ball.

Noob himself can do a quick shadow toss, which should get this guy every time he dashes. And if he relies too much on his forceball or spit, use your teleport. Get more familiar with each characters fighting style.

As a Reptile player, it appears that crouch block blocks both the slide and dash. What some players do is block my dash then follow up with an uppercut or some other attack.

If a Reptile is spamming those attacks he should be easy enough to take care of with good defense and projectiles to keep him at bay.

Yeah, those 2 moves aren't very hard to defend against at all.

I think what angered me the most was he messaged me saying I got raped and he wouldn't rematch me with my better character. I still think it's lame that he can keep dashing like that over and over that fast. Doesn't make since :/

I think it fits him very well. I'm not even a big Reptile player, but I think the fast dashing adds to the whole reptilian thing.

Don't let bad players ruin characters for you.

Why don't people want a challenge? It's kind of sad.

But yeah, it's like NRS's way of making sure there's variety in the game and you're forced to adapt to a situation so it's more of a battle of skill then a slap fight.

You main Mileena? I want to fight you, brother :)

I don't think the dash is that big of a problem, kinda annoying but easy to get around. you should have hit him with an up knee, ****ing love that up knee

as a noob saibot player reptile is very doable. basically if hes in close, upknee them, then immediatly shadowcharge/slide, it will break him out of his charge/slide. now he has to rely on getting to you the old fashioned way or play the trade game of which its pretty even unless he hits you with 2 forceballs.

i think reptiles dash is in fact balanced. its helluva fast, but much easier to deal with then say kung lao's spin.

I think Reptile's Dash is essential to balance him out since his general movement is slow compared to other kombatants.

Both the dash and the slide are unsafe if blocked and can be punished with a full combo, if you are having issues punishing, try a faster move, or just accept the fact that maybe online delay is making the move safer than it is.

I love how people say that Reptile's dash is balanced, when it clearly isnt.

How so? Offering an opinion is all well and good, but it really doesn't mean anything unless you explain why you feel this way.

I personally think Reptile's quite balanced. He's got very slow dash and movement speed and minimal anti-air from what I've seen. His Slide and Elbow Dash attack balance that out. I also think they fit his reptilian persona well (reptiles are often slow moving until they attack), but that's neither here nor there gameplay-wise. As Quan Chi, I got my head handed to me by a fantastic Reptile player, but when my friend came over and tried to spam the Elbow Dash and Slide, as Sub-Zero, I tore him apart. It's all about figuring out strengths and weaknesses. Takes time, practice, and thought put into playing as or against each and ever fighter. I'm still getting the hang of that myself, but I find that I do make strides as a player when I learn how and why each character plays the way they do.

I also don't think the dash is unbalanced. The dash is a big part of Reptile's gameplay, without it, I believe he'd be fairly easy to defeat. The dash is as essential to his character as the Ball is to Kano or the Superman is to Raiden, both of which I would consider much more annoying.

I think the dash being spammable is a way to help Reptile close a gap between the two players, considering he has no teleport-like ability aside from the dash. Take into consideration as well that Reptile has a pretty poor close-up mixup game from what I can tell. I can only break a person out of a block if they are crouch blocking by using 1+2+2 and following up quickly with an acid ball, otherwise, if they are stand blocking, I can really only resort to sliding, grabbing, or sweeping, none of which I can lead into combos.

Reptiles b1,b4,slide all hit standing blocks but are all enders to combos. His Acid hand, f2b1, 1221, 122 all hit crouching blocks which usually open up combos. His ex acid hand hits a low block also and is a pop up but in order to combo of it you have to dash forward twice. He has a few mix ups but he really cant combo into them but has a good moveset for blocking opponents overall.

Like I said, I guess the overall atmosphere of his rudeness and ****iness set me off more than the actual character. I never fought a reptile spammer before so I had no idea what to do, especially since it was my second day playing Noob.

This is the result of bad defense.

I use Reptile frequently, and when I encounter someone who I don't know how to address very well (Quan Chi or Cyrax), they usually always block my dashes and follow them up with devastating combos. Basically, it's balanced, you just dont know how to put your hands up :P

Block low for his dash and slide, jumping helps a lot too. Also, throw a projectile if you know a dash is coming up.
Fast khars throws me off when I play as reptile, but I hardly use dash, sept to get close or to punish.

These "spam" threads need to stop. I made one before but that's when the game was new and things seemed unbalanced, but it's fine.

Reply to every spam thread ever: Crouch block, and block and dash.
