Rage quiters!!!!!

I thought they would have something like FIFA - where a disconnecter automatically gets a 5-0 defeat (or something). yes it is a little harsh for those RARE occasions where internet drops, but the benefit is worth it. If people quit you get the win.

If people really do have poor connections they should not play online - it is a watse of everyone's time.

PS - I am rubbish so I never see this phenomenon as I am usually losing! :)
 
Okay one rage quitter in a few matches is meh :/ but this game has a lot more than that if your a decent to above average player. What's wrong with taking a loss ? Someone outplayed you so stop acting like a lil *****. If someones just totally wrecking you or even if your up against a spammer then just tough it out and then don't rematch.

I think this happens more in ranked than anything, because not only aren't players given the chance to decline a fight but a loss can be given before a match officially started. Why is this a problem? When you find someone in ranked who lags terribly, you might play them that one time just to be fair, but of course you don't want to play someone who lags like that again. The problem is it will pair you up with that same player over, and over, and over again. It's a problem, and I think people compensate for that by leaving and/or deliberately playing and leaving to mess up their stats as a form of retaliation.

I haven't played any ranked matches just yet so I'm not to sure how that system works, ( takes like more than ten minutes searching for a match when I have open Nat and 4 green dots so I dunno) but if I understand u correct I still dont understand why people would rage quit to try to hurt the other players numbers. I mean wouldn't both players still be fighting under the same lag conditions. And what's to say its actually their connection and not the netcode. Fair is fair and quiters are quiters.

There's a lot more to it than that. You said it yourself, who wants to fight under laggy conditions? What may be a 2 second lag when you're trying to punch out a combo might not lag when they try it - big difference.
 
I don't even know if they rage quit or just lost connection. Sometimes it's hard to tell, or at least for me it is.

I'll either be in the middle of beating their ass, or the match will barely begin and it already ends. Sometimes people send messages apologizing for their garbage connection, others just disappear like a 40 year old's aspirations of moving out of his parent's basement.

Either way, it seems like whenever I pick Scorpion, people rage instantly. Although I never spam, and I try to just connect his combos with a hellfire or spear or two, it makes no difference. Bottom line; rage quitters will always be around, but I suppose if they are giving you free wins it won't be so bad.
 
Rage quitters annoy me a lot. I've even seen people rage quitting as I'm about to do a fatality on them. Well, in that case, it's too late, because I've already beaten you.
 
as someone who is trying to close the gap on a negative win/loss ratio, rage quitters bug me alot. i'm about 20 wins away from evening it up, but i'd be eight wins closer if those people hadn't ragequit. if you disconnect, the person with the life lead should get the win. if your opponent leaves the game, you should get the win. period. i've had matches where my internet has dropped, and i've had matches where the connection has dropped in the middle of it and yeah, i'm sure that was just internet problems and it's no big deal. but if you disconnect when i'm about to fatality you for the third time, you're a quitter and you suck. don't say yes to the rematch if you're just going to quit out when i win, you scrub.

for full disclosure i've NEVER ragequit, no matter how pissed i am after losing

and what's even worse is when after they lose once, they auto pick raiden , scorpion, Lui kang, etc and then begins the same lockdown cheese moves. Well, seeing how this is like text book for retaliation and I have learned, I stomp them even more and soon as the "finish him" comes up, or right before, its a disconnection. Bloody bastards.

What ever happen to respect ? This is one on one. Not halo, not cod, you don't have to depend on anyone but yourself. If you lost, re-evaluate then wise up. I dunno, its just a game but I hate waiting like 5 minutes sometimes for a match , just to have someone quit.

14yrs and under are excluded from this rant.

Get a clue... you know that online mode currently is really really stupid and laggy? Yes? The wait times are longer than the actual play times! Do you think anyone is interested in watching Fatalitys they already have seen 1000 times after every match.... or do you think that someone has to stay in a match where its stuttering like crazy and the lag is abnormal high? comon boy.... ofc there are ragequitters, but there are people who just are sick of waiting in online mode or of the massive stuttering every 3rd match etc.

You get the win if someone leaves. check your statistics again after a match. thats 100% sure. i got a win for every time someone leaves a match.

I have not noticed any lag at all after the patch, yeah the connections issue is real bad, but if you have a decent connection and fight some one with the same decent connection, there should be no lag...i personally know about 20 people that have no lag after the patch.
 
Rage quitters vs rage messengers

Considering how bad the lag can be at times even post-patch, I have no qualms about quitting or if someone else quits. When you are seeing every 5th frame every 60 seconds (exaggeration, but makes the point), quitting is more than acceptable.

The other half is why waste time in a match with someone who sits on the other side of the screen and spams or simply if the skill sets between players is grossly unbalanced?

Either way it's not fun anymore, so leaving a match and trying to find a more equal one is perfectly understandable.

I think the people who "rage message" after a quit are laughable too. I mean, really? Is the game that important to your self-esteem/ego that you have to rage message someone? C'mon...After all, it's just a silly game.

Both sides, genuine "rage quitters" (childishly quitting a playable, decently balanced match) and "rage messengers" spoil what should be a good time online.

Patch is not out yet in EU (xbox live at least)
 
Yes you do get wins after someone disconnected. Well, I especially noticed this after the final hit is delivered, they quit, you still get a win. I am not sure what the case is if healths bars are still up on both ends.

As for the disconnect messages, this is what I've noticed:

"The Game Has Desynchornized" = The connection between you both has lagged out. No penatly.
"Your Opponent Has Left The Game" = They disconn/ "rage quit" on you. You get a win.
"The Game is No Longer Available" = You have disconnected. You get a disconnect.


Additional note, spamming is not a legitamite reason to quit. A player needs to learn, adapt, and outplay a person who throws projectiles from full screen. As a main sub-zero, I had to learn a lot very quicky to out play Noobs, Reptiles, Strykers, and Sindels. Not to mention bating out teleports from such characters. It's sad to see people quit in general. No matter what the case (lag, out matched, spammers, ect), I've never quit a game. I always attempt to adapt to the scenario, even if I have to tap my inputs about 1-2 seconds before to buffer for the lag. Just try, it'll help you win a lot more. I am 100/14 right now in ranked, 450/110 in Player Match. Cuz I think, and never give up.
 
Browsing this thread, it is quite apparent that people taking gaming far, far, far too seriously. I love how people post their stats like it's some sort of badge of honor (honour); boasting that they never quit, never spam, never do this, never do that as if they are "holier-than-thou". My stats are about as unbalanced as Charles Manson, but I couldn't care less. I play for fun and it doesn't mean I'm a terrible player or someone else is better than me...at least in my eyes. After all, stats are even more meaningless once you log off and come back to reality.

So, quit, rage, spam, combo, etc on y'all. It's just a game...nothing more and has about as much meaning as doomsday prophesies.
 
Rage quitters are always gonna be there just like haters, f-ck em'. It personally makes me laugh when someone rage quits on me. That just means I did a good job stomping their ass like I intended too. People take things way to seriously, it's not like we're sitting on our couches playing for $1000 a match.

Agreed on the account that it is just a game. I wasn't posting my stats to show off, it was more of a reference out of what I get for not quitting, and simply staying dedicated; as the thread is ABOUT people rage quitting. And you can say "it's just a game, movie, song" about anything right? But just like everyone else, this is a game we do have fun with, and it definitely is more fun to win than lose, let alone deal with people attempting to take that fun out of it by rage quitting.

Why is it that "we" take the game too seriously when people are posting their online experiences? You obviously signed up for this forum and writing on this thread like the rest of us. Is having a forum about the game too serious? If people enjoy the game enough to talk about it here, why are you complaining? Don't walk into the lion's den and complain about the roar. Your point and contribution is as moot as Michael Richards trying to rebuild his career.
 
Not gunna lie, if somebody picks Raiden or sometimes Scorpion, I'll quit.

I don't feel like fighting an overpowered lighting man, and I've grown sooooo damn tired of seeing Scorpion.

I can beat them, there's just no fun in it :(

I don't quit but I get it, it really does get annoying seeing raiden, scorp, and anyone who uses block infinites or glitches. Can't wait for patch.
