Problem with fatality..

Ok, so you know Kung Lao's MK2 fatality where he decaps the opponent's head with his hat. In MK:T I'm having problems getting it to work. Every time it works it never decaps the opponent, when do I exactly press up?
 
It's mostly a trial and error thing. It took me a while to pull it off in Trilogy, but I eventually did it at some point. Usually, though, I'll press up just before the hat reaches the opponent. All you can do is keep trying until it works, unfortunately.
 
You can controlwhere the hat move with Up and Down. It doesn't matt when you do it as long as the hat is still in the air and you do it very quickly. You could probably move it down and quickly hold up. Just aim it right at his/her neck and it should be good. (sorry but I have never tried it in trilogy but it should work the same way.)
 
It's a lot harder in Trilogy, I've help up at around the neck many times and messed up a lot.


I precticed 50 times with a 2P Rain and every time it hit his neck and just caused him to fall over... No fatality or anything... Damn it! LOL.

Edit-I finnaly got it.

the ninjas/Cyborgs neck is hard to hit the exact spot. Now after practicing on Raiden... Success.

Thanks for the help guys... Although the spot is still random...
