Post-Patch Sub-Zero Problems?

The other day i was messing around in the arcade ladder with sub zero. I laid down an ice clone and the cpu jumped into it. Then i did the 2,1,2, combo and finished it with an xray. Weird thing was, it only did 28% damage.

I know that less damage is done in combos when they are frozen ,but this seemed like a little much. Has anyone else experienced this or do you think it was just a glitch?
 
Doesn't Sub-Zero's X-Ray by itself do 28%? I'm thinking maybe the combo and the X-Ray weren't strung together like you originally thought, so you just saw the 28% from the X-Ray. I haven't noticed anything weird with Sub-Zero's X-Ray, and he's my main.
 
SZ's freezing was nerfed after the patch, not his normal damage, just his damage after freezing. Now when you freeze an enemy (post-patch) the damage decreases more than before.
 
I'm pretty sure i pressed x ray directly after the combo (i do it so often that its become like second nature).

although i probably should have tested it out again afterwards

yes there was a hotfix (u know the sys they implemented) so no real patch ..but still very effective ..subs dmg after freeze got nerfed by 1-3%, Kung Laos big combos got nerfed by ~20% if I'm right and some other stuff ..but thats actually 2 weeks ago? or 1 Week? dunno ..

just search for it ..theres a thread about it with things listed by user named kabal-something ..

The "Real" Patch (with online fix and some other stuff) should arrive next week. (I think I read somewhere its dl-able on 7.5.)

ah the hotfix, sorry i have specific terminology with these kinds of things because during my highschool/college years i was unfortunate enough to have my life sucked up by world of warcraft, big difference from a patch and a hotfix :P

in fact thats probably why i havent played many other fighting games, damn wow
 
Yeah man! They completely ****ED Sub Zero! How the shit is he going to keep up with kung lao and the like when he's ****ing doing 12 hit 28% XRAY combos?! For some reason the combo I do doesn't the same damage when I do : back+square, triangle, iceball, jump+square, back+square, triangle, triangle, square, triangle, XRAY. It does 41 percent! However, if I choose triangle, triangle, ice ball, jump+square, back+square, triangle, triangle, square, triangle, XRAY It only does 28?! What in the SHIT?! It's still the same amount of hits! What fkin gives?! ******** damage scaling. I was really rooting for NRS and for the most part I enjoy this game, but sloppy shit like this is really starting to upset me.

I dont agree with you, Sub-Zero is an awesome character i said they screwd up minor things like that you cannot clone near the opponent but he is a top tier he has some of the best combos in the game, if you do "2,1,4 - Xray" does 48% so SZ has great severe damage combos. Also i think "JP - 2,1,4 - Xray" does 50%

And i have no problem beating Kung laos with Sub. Maybe you just need more practice.
 
i agree that sub zero is a great char, he's always been my favorite since the first mortal kombat

what im trying to say is: Is it right that freezing an opponent, doing a short combo, and finishing that combo with an x ray does less damage than the x ray alone?

That's impossible, im sure you x-ray didnt connect to the combo.

It depends on:

StarterCombo+Freeze-JumpInPunch-214xxXray is about ~48% I guess.

IceBall-214xxXray doess less dmg than NoFreeze-214xxXray

I don't have the exact numbers right now..

Fair enough, i believe you. I'll probably do some practicing tomorrow just to make sure though

After the hotfix if you do "2,1,4 Xray" it does 48% already lol and you dont need to do all that long stuff.

yes I know. But there are certain moments (for example projectile tradings) where u hit ur opponent without an starter combo.

JPS - B+1,2 - Iceball - 2,1,4 - X-Ray = 51%, that's the one I usually go with. I heard someone say there is a 53% X-Ray combo for him but I haven't bothered finding it.

I'm not saying he's a bad character, I'm saying they ****ed up with the damage scaling. I play with him just fine. I'm not gonna go on here and brag about it, but I know what I'm doing. I wanna know how it is that I can do a 12 hit combo one way and it take around 40-50% and the same combo with a different opener and it take only 28? That's ******** scaling. They are the exact same except for the 2 hit opener! What gives?
