PC version of Mortal Kombat 9...

This endless silence is killing me...

Play MK2 in the Arcade Kollection while you wait, that way Kintaro will kill you instead of endless silence... over and over again. Fought against him (or it?) for an hour just yet, it's just insanely diffcult. :D The AK is clearly broken, difficulty setting is on "very easy". :D

Sadly the AK isn't broken, MK2 is. If my memory is right, either on or after the 3rd fight in the tower, regardless of what difficulty you have it set to, it automatically jumps to hardest difficulty. I wish they would fix it but the game is so old they'll only ever do ports of it now.

Yeah the difficulty is why as much as I want as close to real thing as I can get with arcade perfect MK 2, I have to play the 32x or Playstation version.

Yeah it's true I had no problems completing MK1 in the AK on normal difficulty. MK2 took me about 8 hours overall to beat with Sub-Zero, it was very-very hard but the thing I'm sad about is that I've never actually had the impression that I'm playing a real fighting game. I think of MK2 as a "puzzle-brawler" because the AI has no characteristics like a human opponent has, it just cheats in a very obvious fashion and basically uses the same patterns over and over again. Once you get used to it and learn how the AI works and how to counter it regular opponents become easy, unrealistic and unimaginative (of course they'll still beat you a few times during the ladder because sometimes cheating really goes over the top but that's MK2 in a nutshell :D).

The same thing goes for Kintaro and Shao Kahn: if you try to fight them the normal way they are insanely hard to beat but if you pay attention to what they do at one point you're like "oh, there's a weak spot I can use to my advantage" and after that they become the easiest fights in the game. They are puzzles to solve instead of opponents you have to defeat with real skill and that really hurts the experience. Shao Kahn is badass so why can I beat him with simple uppercuts? :D It's because I've played a lot of adventure games so I know how to solve a puzzle but in reality that doesn't make me a skilled player in MK2. :)

At the end even though I've completed the game and know Sub-Zero very well I think I'd have no chance against a real, human opponent. :D

Yeah, and he only played it for very brief periods of time. My guess would be that wasn't even playing, more like test log-ins to the game, nothing more.

Consider this:

Amazon first listed MK9 for PC around 15th of March. It was apparently scheduled to be released on Jun 13th. They removed the listing a few days later.

Ster Kinekor subsequently mentioned that the game will probably hit shelves around September. The game MIGHT have been initially set to go live on Jun 13 indeed, but NRS delayed it for a September release.

If they follow the logic of announcing it 3 months before the release, so that pre-orders can take place, that means the game will probably be announced in the beginning of June.

Yes, that's what I expect too. The September release seems more and more realistic sadly, however there is a slight chance still that we get an announcement in the next coming two weeks maximum just because it's not a high profile release, it's just the release of the PC version. I don't think that for example the Australian release was announced 3 months prior to the release date.

September is the worst time for me for it to come out. I'll just be starting university, where am I gonna find the time to enjoy this brilliant game when silly things like work and learning are taking up my time :(

Let's see how brilliant it will be when it's ported to the PC... Cause they got the full potential to majorly screw it up and they won't even care enough to acknowledge it. Like they did with MKAK. These people have absolutely no respect for the PC platform - all they care about is the money. The money coming from sales of console versions, since they are not that easy to pirate. They don't give a shit about the PC fans of the franchise, and quite frankly, they don't deserve to see a dime or any sign of interest out of us, having in mind the fact that they chose to abandon us ages ago and never look back.

Oh, and there's that dreadful Games for Windows Live thingy. If they decide to stick with that... I don't know. I just don't know.

Exactly where did they mess up MKAK? I've played that game for about 20 hours and experienced only 1 bug during that time (sound disappeared once). Also the general problems the Kollection has on PC exist in the console versions too (weird things with audio, nearly non exstent difficulty settings, etc.).

FFS, how freakin difficult is for them to just announce that they are WORKING on it... At this point I don't even want an announcement for release, just for them to admit that they are even involved with the development of a PC version. It's obvious a lot of people are super-hyped about it, and that number will increase exponentially if they drop the word that they are indeed working on it.

But we don't need an announcement for what we already know. Personally here's the list of thngs I'd like to know about:

- release date
- PC version specifications
- What content format (DLCs or GOTY Edition) will we get
- In what formats can we buy the game (retail or Steam only, will there be a Collector's Edition)
- Stweamworks or GFWL
- System requirements

Anyway at this point I'm willing to wait till September if I have to as the new Rise of the Triad game will come out in the Summer, so if that ends up being good I'll play that the whole Summer anyway :D :

But it would be to nice to play it alongside MK9, a good FPS (oh my God, why does CoD exists when it has nothing to do with the FPS genre?) and a good fighting game at the same time! :)

There was cracked version of MK9 for shitbox a week before release. This stupid myth that console games are hard to pirate starting to piss me.
There is no such console game that you cant play with flashed console, now you even can play cracked games and the ones you purchased on the same console.
Meanwhile there is no cracked version of many pc games multiplayer.

GFWL, do i have to explain it more detailed ?
If they will use gfwl with MK9, i am not buying it. Then a month after release they will cry that nobody is interested in fighting games on PC and we wount see any pc game from WB ever again.

We don't know anything at this point, we THINK we know something. Until they actually admit it, they can postpone it indefinitely and we will just keep on refreshing this topic and the SteamDB page and drooling about it. It's all educated speculations at this point ( the most definitive evidence seems to be Ster Kinekor saying the game exists, but that might just be a rumor ).

Well yes please as GFWL doesn't really factor into the quality of the AK: there are not patches to be installed or DLC to be downloaded so GFWL causes no problems and stays in the background as it should. The only time I saw GFWL was when I got an achievement.
