Oppose the Trespass Bill, H.R. 347 !

Otherwise known as the Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011, the bill will significantly curtail the ability of people to voice protest or otherwise 'disrupt' federal events where the U.S. Secret Service has an interest (presidential candidate rallies, summits, presidential addresses/rallies, political banquets, etc), making it a federal offense to protest on those grounds.

While it might seem innocuous on the face, this is an insidious attack on our basic liberty to assemble and present redress to the government and its officials.

It just reinforces the fact that government officials are out of touch with the citizens they are supposed to represent.

Edit:

On a more practical note, what is the best way to let them know we don't approve of this bill?

Vote the current Congress out of office?

Innundate your local representative with emails, phone calls, etc. House.gov, Senate.gov *nod*

As much as I oppose this, I have to say this is pretty genius.

They make this into a law and nobody cares because "I don't protest. This doesn't affect me"
And then a little while down the road they pass something that is TRULY outrageous and nobody is able to say anything where it matters. Hell you'll be lucky if you can hold a sign in front of Chuck E. Cheese with out getting hit with a fire hose.

A fine example of how the government is smarter than the average citizen.
