Online community shrinking?

I think it was the return to 2D that just sapped the feel and look of more reedom while playing. The game surroundings feel somewhat boxed in and to tight, the X-Ray meters eat up visual space at the bottom of the screen and the characters are a bit to small.
surrounding boxed and too tight? then the characters are a bit to small? you be trolling or an idiot. The online is dead simply due to jackasses with nothing better to do and are plain and simply no fun to play against, due to there "total mastery" of the game. I played online today had a laugh but it was full of all the knobs with 3000+ wins and 120 losses. You know the kind of people who should, in all fairness find a more productive hobby than wasting there lives endlessley playing a video game. If you do play endlessly join tournaments, try and win some cash as there obviously not making it anywhere else. I know for a fact hardly any of the online players enter tournaments. The real pros (so i read) stay away from online play due to the complete randomness in gameplay. I think most folk stopped playing due to the shitty community and the choppy online play. Its a shame as this game could have been boss. Im sorry but the pseudo pros really grind my gears

Even if 90% of everyone that bought MK9 has stopped playing the game, do NRS or WB really care?

Because at the end of the day, they got their 40....what comes after that really is a favour to the loyal fans.

That sounds negative, but that's the truth. As hyped as the 4 DLC characters were by everyone, especially Freddy, I barely see anyone use them online. And yes, they've fixed the DLC costume pack desyncs...but talk about too little too late. People left long before the patch arrived recently.

I still maintain they should have stretched the DLC out right the way through to the end of Oct...and then they could have teased that either Freddy, or Jason, or both will be arriving on Oct 31st. They could have put out a ton of trailers to keep interest high. Do you know how hype the community would have been? This is one thing that Capcom are VERY good at, if you take the SF and MVC3 game as an example. In the mean time, they could have then addressed the very real problems, bugs and glitches afflicting online. But no, they threw everything at all the casuals in a very short space of time, all the pretty stuff, casuals all going "this is cooooool, deeeeeerp" for about a week, and then they got bored.

It's a real shame, because this is hands down the greatest MK game to date, and the game has so much potential. It STILL has potential. I dont know if Boon or NRS can rehype the community, or maybe focus on UMK9 now?

I have other games to play thats why. My connection is good an all, but the game still lags and such. So, I'm over it. Rather play Resistance 3.

I'll play it again, but only offline.

I agree. MK9 is an old, washed up game when it comes to online play. There are far better games out there now to play. I for one am looking forward to Arkham City, even though it think will have a short lifespan given the issues of the game before it.

Agreed.
I might jump online again, once the patch comes to PS3. ;-)
For now I'm just playing offline.

I still love this game and will still play but there are a ton of awesome games coming out. Been busy with gow origins and ico/sotc collection.

I'll be back on mk still

There will be some Christmas noobs but honestly I think the vast majority of people who would actually take the game seriously already got the game and is still playing or has already quit.
