Don't go making claims that for the vast majority of people, the lag is unplayable. I don't believe that is true. When I go in a room, I mostly 4 dot/bar connections. a few 2s, and some 3s, but mostly 4s.
In KOTH, I've experienced lag in there if a 2 or 3 connection comes in, even if I'm not playing them. It sucks, but, I've been able to play, just not do my best combos or react to things properly sometimes. I've had my room get better once those low connections leave.
I started doing ranked matches last night, and in every single one, I've had a perfect connection. There was literally no lag whatsoever. It was like playing someone next to me. I didn't have to adjust my timing at all.
Tip to you guys, make sure you play your xbox/ps3s hooked up with an ethernet cable. Don't do wireless. Even if you play with a router right next to your xbox/ps3, it will not be as good as a direct ethernet connection.
And if you think MK9 is unplayable online, I'm betting it's like that for every game you play online on that same console. I think the netcode is just fine, it's your internet/network setup that sucks, or you might be playing with a horrible connection themselves due to distance or they are on a router.
I don't think NRS has to respond to anything, really. If someone's network setup sucks, tough, they can't make a shitty connection better than it is. I work in an office, and while I can download faster than I do at home, my network there filters crap and goes through a buncha different systems, so my ping is bad. I can play games at work, but it sucks because it's not set up for it.
Try this. Make sure your game systems are hooked up to an ethernet cable, and then play some ranked matches (you have to wait maybe a minute for a player to show up), and see how the lag is there.
Exactly. 10 dollars to use something that doesn't work.
They only charge people who didn't buy a new copy. And it does work. Stop making generalizations.
