New Characters for MK10

I don't want to sound like an ass, but the new character ideas in this thread are not good at all. The only one I recall is the Samurai idea. The family member ideas are lame. Then there are the ones that just make 0 sense. Has anybody ever seen Mr. Vampire? or Spooky Encounters? This game is overdue for a Taoist priest. They might as well give Shujinko those powers because he sure looks like Lam ching-ying.

I'd also like MK to have some big slow characters. Sheeva was kinda close but they got it right with Grundy. Drahmin could suffice in this game. A legit turtle character would be welcome as well. Someone with mostly reversals and such. This next game doesn't really need NEW characters. It just needs to bring new ideas to old characters.

But I threw that idea out there after seeing concept art. It sounds a little silly but imagine compacting the characters in to one. I thought it was interesting.

The 2 stars (Scorpion and Sub-Zero) are in.
The rest of the roster is interchangeable, so why not?

MK X is likely going to have some returning MK9 & post-MK3 characters, along with some new ones.

When people buy video games (or movies) they want to be entertained. They want something new and different. Not a rehash of previous entries. How many times must we get the same old characters without any evolution in their story whatsoever?

The two big stars of MK have already been confirmed. Scorpion and Sub Zero. That alone is going to sell the game, regardless of the remaining characters on the roster.

Why anyone would reject the idea of new characters baffles me.
 
I actually made it a point to not buy MKvsDC since Johnny Cage wasn't in the roster. Scorpion and Sub Zero don't sell the game to me alone. The gameplay has to be good...and also include Johnny Cage.

Everyone has their favorites. But the fact is - Scorpion and Sub Zero are the faces of Mortal Kombat. So long as they appear in the game, people will buy it (people who like the MK series that is). Johnny Cage is a well known character to people who are big time fans of the games... But even casuals know who Scorpion and Sub Zero are. Everyone else is a bonus.
 
Thing that sets Mortal Kombat apart from other fighting games for me is the story. Not the gore or over the top special moves and fatalities although those help too. The story after MK4 completely fell apart for me and a lot of other people. It wasn't just the switch to 3D because i like some 3D fighters as well. The characters after 4 had bad stories and half of the new characters from 4. New character have to bring something more than a good look and cool moves. Unless they are DLC and then it's acceptable. I have looked at a lot of suggested characters on here and some sound cool but not for MK because they add nothing to the lore. Not dising anyone's ideas. Hey it is hard to come up with new characters that add to such a great story. Hell the MK team failed at it for 3 games and then went back to fix it. Hope they can keep it up.

that's how i treat all MK games without Johnny cage.

imo the entire MK2 cast needs to be in every game.

With all do respect, the original characters were new at one time and people loved them. There's no reason why other new characters can't come in and gain fan's admiration. I understand, though, I still want some of my favorites to return as well as new comers. However, if we got the same MK9 roster again and again I admittedly would get bored. There's not enough room to have everyone's favorite and new characters, unfortunately.
 
Not getting to see your favorites in every MK game is like... rule number 1 in being a Mortal Kombat fan. Once you get passed this, you'll be fine.

I personally adore the concept behind Chameleon and would love to see him done right. But I had to accept the fact that he may never show up ever again. I was one of the few who liked Sheeva, but I doubt we'll ever see her again, either (especially after how poorly she was done in MK9).

Luckily I will ALWAYS have at least one character to look forward to in these games. Scorpion.
 
I honestly don't care about Sheeva in a story sense. I liked playing as her in MK9 but as long as I can get someone who plays similar to her in MKX, I'll be mucho happy. MKX needs at least one big Grundy like character. They learned a lot from Injustice and I can't wait to see what they've got for us this time.

I'm sure we'll get a play style similar to Sheeva's (as much as I hated it). But I doubt we'll ever see Sheeva herself in a future game. Her approval rating is ridiculously low. lol
 
I know I have been against new characters that don't fit the story but if they are secret or hidden unlockables that don't appear in the story mode then I am cool with that. that being said I think it's time for ZEBRON!
