Negative Aspects of the Game

Loving the demo and can't wait for April 19th. Here's my list of constructive criticism:

1. Hit detection seems to be a bit iffy at times.
2. I haven't thoroughly tested the classic combos, but it seems the simple ones that start with a Jump Kick need to be super deep in order for the rest to connect. For example, Mileena's JK into a Sai Shot is not as easy as it was in the classic 2D games. While I personally don't mind this, it might discourage the casual player.
3. The blood drip is too loud on some of the fatalities.

Fear not. It has been fixed already in later builds according to Pat.
 
The game is awesome, best game ever, yadda yadda,.... but minor things....

Johnny Cage has NO X-Ray !!! WTF ?

He will do a taunt, and no damage done to opponent !?!?!
and nothing is shown X-ray'ed, how can they call it an X-Ray move ?

Also I think if Scorpion throws his spear through an ice statue (decoy) it should not just go through it. it should shatter the ice and stop, or shatter it and continue on.

Also Subs "double ice backfire" should be in.

Why do they show the "liver" on top of the spike during The Pit stage fatality, EVERY TIME ?
Id like to see it without the organ on top, it looks out of place if you ask me. how does getting impaled, pull out an organ, perfectly intact with no visible hole where it came through. not realistic at all. A spike or blade will just cut through everything. would be "funny" to do it on occasion, but not every single time. better yet remove it altogether. Nuff bout that.

i'm getting used to the announcer. kinda.

Someone posted about there being no warning bell/with laugh, when near death. I agree.

Hope final build has some added "bells & whistles "

i havent played the demo so cant be sure but the way u described it im guessing it's kinda like a counter. meaning he needs to get hit by his opponent during that "x-ray" for it to actually play out. just my guess though. wouldnt make sense for him not to have an x-ray since in trailers u can see him punching kung lao's crotch in x-ray. ^^

Johnny Cage's X-Ray move works as a counter, you must use it when the opponent attacks you.
 
you can only land johnnys xray if it catches someone trying to hit you - its a counter attack

Meat-just what his name describes..a random pile of meat
Shujinko-some dumb A.S.S that got lucky
Reiko-a STUPID general of shao kahns army
Kenshi-ermac copycat
Bo Rai Cho-dont need a karate kid master
Havik-emperor palpatine of mortal kombat
Shinnok-a shang tsung/quan chi wannabe
Onaga-reptile turned into him FTW
Motaro-just dissapointing
Sheeva-clone of Goro
thats all of the characters starting with THE WORST (Mokap) to the best OF THE WORST (Sheeva) every other character actually has morals and should be brought forward into another mortal kombat...

Not sure how this is relevant to the new MK but ummmm ok?


As far as everything else as stated by others there are some mechanics that need to be tweeked just based off the 4 characters in the demo but will have to wait and see how retail plays to make a real judgement call on the mechanics.
 
Good, thank god that mynameisblade guy deleted this post, that was an example of something I specifically said I did not want in this thread. Thank you for all cooperating and giving proper criticism thus far and giving us non demo players what to expect when we get ours. It seems to be that the klassic kombos are the main flaws ATM. Hopefully NRS realizes that and fixes this, along with the many other flaws people have posted.

Well another thing that has me feeling better about it is that the demo is a build from 8 weeks ago so from then till now there has been changes made.

@JayJayisme Glad you like demo, and that gameplay is 8 weeks old, the game is SOOOO much better now. Seriously so much fixed, so much better
 
Sounds like the sound is not good enough.... Have not played the demo, but MK 1-3 all had the death chime and the announcer commentating if you like. I also agree with the person who said about the infinty symbol it is a reference reminder that timer is off rather than nothimg to refer to.

It just goes to show you can have amazing visuals but if the sound is not right then it can ruin the experience some what, it is meant to be a tribute to the first 3 games, then it had better start acting a bit more like it in this department, I am all for new stuff but do not change the core of what the game should be.

Summarising what I have read from all of you that have posted on here so far It would seem That bigger imapct needed on uppercut + Roundhouse Physically and with the audio sample too... The famous sound of a cabbage being slapped on a wooden table was used in the old Kung Fu Movies so find a Bigger Cabbage NRS.... no seriously do somthing about that, and probably slow it down a bit to have a bigger impact visually. It would seem the same original joy of landing these 2 moves is not there?

Music - Up the Volume have it controllerable and even better selectable Original soundtrack to unlock ++++++ yes please remix good too and original score

Announcer - if it aint broke don't fix it.....sounds like it has broke, clean up the old samples and replace

Ooohs and aaahss I can see why they have been left out because where is the audience in some arenas so please can we have the monks from the courtyard simulating these sounds along with their applause

Death Chime needs to be in, it increases the apprehension of a comeback, or a loss

Sounds like this is what people are saying and I have not played it yet but agree with you all from what I have heard.

Agreed with this, I miss those little aspects from the original games as well.
 
Something I don't like is that when both people throw a projectile at the same time, the projectiles go through one another and still hit.

This gives an advantage to SubZero. For example, if I'm Mileena and I throw my sais at you, SubZero, while you throw the ice ball, you'll get damage from the sais, but I get frozen and left open for a combo.

Yeah thats one thing from street fighter I actually like, when two projectiles get thrown, they collide and vanish. NRS should follow suit with that.
