Mortal kombat patch 1.01

One thing the patch will do, it's putting more screamers in the Krypt, hehe ...... :D :D

Anyway, it's to fix Ermac and Cyrax infinites, and/or to fix Scorpion Toasty bug, and, maybe others minor corrections tweaks along with.

It's good that NRS is aware about the game being fixed ASAP, and , so, with the game finally released, they will have feedback from people that play it , to refine this game more and more.

i have no clue what this patch is going to do, but here's something relateable to put the size in perspective:

1 fatality = 1 MB

this patch is said to be 40MB

this would be equivilant to them addiding 40 new fatalities.

again i have no clue what this patch is, but it's huge

My guess is that they are adding some more stuff in the Necropolis, a few new statues and revamped content (maybe even the retro costumes). I agree with most of you that this is far to big a patch just to be bug fixes, hell the demo was only 520mb. I hope they are adding more stage fatalities and hidden fatals (maybe that's why nobody has found a Brutality yet).

Are the fatalities separate files on the disc, that would be nice.

And the size of one file tells you very much. 1 MB means that the fatalities aren't pre-rendered. They are dynamically rendered and the file is just an instruction to the engine what to do. This is really nice :)

yes,they are individual files

Yes, the fatalies are around 500kb to 1,5mb on the disc.

I think the patch was to fix the fact that people were able to perform Scorpions toasty without a gamestop pre-order.

I know you'd be pissing off Gamestop NRS, but cmon, that was a dick move and there's more important things NRS could be working on other than making sure Gamestop doesn't throw a tantrum.

Thats big business there not to mention all the people who really wont have any idea that it was allowed in the first place.

I have the game for PS3, played through it, and I would say with certainty (although unconfirmed) that they have removed the ability to do the toasty fatality.

Now, if anyone knows how to remove a patch once it's been downloaded and installed, please let me know. I would like to try this with the patch removed.

@murray825:

a quick and dirty solution would be:

1. unhook your network cable from the PS3!! IMPORTANT!!!
2. create a new account on your PS3!!
3. start the game on the new account!!

With this constellation you can switch between accounts and note changes you may encounter.

I must be the only one hoping that this patch gets rid of the Krypt screamer, or gives an option to turn it off.

... I highly doubt it though >.>;

Could the dude with the game files confirm the size of alternate costumes, because it could put all classic Costumes and fatalities in the game, and perhaps some more stage fatalities (since the developers said most stages would get one). if the costumes are small enough, that could round out the 40, just put stuff in that they didn't want people to have pre-launch, like the items they are giving out as pre-order bonuses. I can't imagine its code to play against DLC characters, I imagine that one would come with the first round of actual DLC characters, Ya know?

i know this will only cause trouble. most casual players won't know about this and might not like it and they'll only end up complaing agains NR. once the complaints start comig in then NR will have to include an option to turn them off.

Uhhh...no they won't.

Screamers are in, so what?

there's no harm in having an option in the options menu to turn them on/off. they can be in by default and if people like them, they can leave them on and if they don't they can turn them off. everybodies happy
