Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

I agree with la_luna about moving the hand closer. Looks very good though, cant wait to see the final render.
updates on sonya:
1. just connected the ears to the face a few minutes ago. It was a fun little project rerouting and finding ways to lower geometry at the ends of the ear to connect to the spot in the face with less resolution. Brought the base ear model into Zbrush to do all the tweaking and I think it turned out really well.
2. worked on the hands a lot more. I'll be bringing that into Zbrush for some quick shaping. Took more time than I thought. It may not be that visible in the game, but I do want to have a detailed base hand with clean topology flow.
3.worked on the arms a lot. Made them the right size added some more detail to the triceps. Made the ribs look more rounded.
Havent had too much time to work on it this week but I can tell I'm definitely excited about the project when I'm thinking about how I'm going to tweak and fix the model while I'm going to sleep, lol.

^lol, that reminds me when I got a GameBoy as a kid back in 1991.
I used to play Tetris so much, that I would go to sleep with the images
of falling blocks in my mind :)

Most of the time, I dream that I"m flying slowly up right, like Magneto or that I can jump super high like the Hulk. :/

@ttas: I think that is the Super NES version? Something doesn't look right to me outside of the Power bars.

No, it wasn't the SNES version. I first noticed it when I played the arcade version. I grew up playing the SNES version and the arcade one really stood out. I haven't seen it happen in MK2 or 3, just 1. I don't know why it is, just seems to be some bizzare happening. But not all of the names are like this as I've said, only a few of them in P2 position. Shang Tsung obviously doesn't have it and I don't think it appears on Scorpion or Sub-Zero.

Anyway, it's not a big deal or anything, just an observation of something strange. But does anyone know WHY P2 has a frame advantage like mentioned on the uppercut? It almost like it was meant to give the AI a cheap advantage, but it ended up affecting human P2 as well. I wonder if this happened in MK2 and MK3?

I have no idea why there's frame advantage on every P2 move.
As for MK2 & 3, I can check it out in MAME and post it here.

Quick question for Bleed, I've noticed we have a Scorpion folder and a Scorpion zip, Should I just be putting files in the folder, or put them in the folder AND make a new zip, replacing the original zip?

K the file was updated, I put the 3Ds.max files along with the updated textures in this folder.

Scorpion 3D Files

;---------------------------

Scorpion.zip is where all the final sprites go.

If there is an open version of that file, it shouldn't be there. If you need the open folder, keep it on your PC to keep drop box free of clutter.

I made a .zip for the final sprites, because Interloko asked to be able to grab all the sprites at once.

I've added a new folder called "Finished work" anything is there is final, anything out of it is WIP.
If you made something and it's Done, move it in to this folder to avoid confusion.

Got it, thanks Bleed.

Never mind about the finished work folder. Most of the stuff in there should be done.

Just keep the junk out when possible.

Okay guys, back with another annoying argument for Scorpions portrait eyes. After reading through his bio and endings again I don't think Sub kills Scorp until you beat the game with him, meaning he wouldn't have undead eyes until the sequels. So maybe the original wasn't a mistake?

But I like him either way, just felt that I should point this out if we're trying to catch everything.

(BTW, I could be wrong)

The canonical winner of MK1 is Liu Kang, and Scorp has his Skull fatality meaning he's undead in MK1.

@MrMos3s
your background for scorp ending is not 100% like the original IMO.

i tried to make something closer to the original.

how about this one?

@DFGHTENNIS I liked that background very much,
but I don't like the skull - it's too blurry.

@MrMos3s you can always interpret his eyes as part of
the mask (which he removes during Fatality). However,
white eyes became such huge part of his character over
the years and in every other game that it's just plain weird
seeing him with pupils. Plus, he looks much more badass
with white eyes imo.

@ttas Here are the power bars with names from the Arcade:

As for the frame advantage, I did a quick test in MAME.
In MK1 & MK2 it seems P2 always has one frame advantage
during the whole match on every move (normals and specials)

In MK3 & UMK3 it seems random, P1 may have frame advantage
in Round 1, P2 in Round 2, and back again to P1 in Round 3.
Or P1 can have it in Round 1 and Round 2, and vice versa.
Long story short - there is no situation where both players
have the same frames in any of the original games.
It's really weird. Maybe it's the emulation problem with MAME,
and it's not actually like that on Arcade machines but I doubt it.

Maybe interloko knows more about this occurrence?
Or TerryMasters, I've seen few youtube videos of his,
looks like he knows stuff about actual arcade machines
and MAME emulations.

You're right about Liu Kang, what I meant was Scorpions ending is where he actually dies, as far as the story goes, and you're also right about his fatality, but it still doesn't match the story, and the fact that Boon and Tobias themselves left his eyes dark in the original.

That's just what I was thinking, about him removing his mask for the Fatality. I also agree that the white eyes look more badass and familiar, I just thought I should throw this out there incase we were trying to go that far into making this Mortal Kombat "1"

But like I said before, I too really like the white eyes.

Would love more thoughts.

Nice job, and I'm really not trying to be a jerk, but I think I'm still happy with my edit, which I'm sure is partially due to the amount of time and small details that went into it. It's still up for debate though and whatever the guys decide on I'm happy to follow through with.

The story was corrected lol, if it was like what you are saying in mk9 scorpion wouldnt have his white eyes...
Like i said milions of times, Elder sub zero killed Scorpion before MK1 tournament in his journey (Mortal Kombat Mythologies)
