Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

Incredible guys, just incredible. Saw some videos of this and been reading this entire thread. Cage looks amazing. I think once he's rendered with a slighty more uneven skin tone with more tones and highlights, it will lose any comparisons to Woody from Toy Story. :) Can't wait to see this in action. Really excellent.

Likely one day will be made MK HD 1.5 (or something like that, with ability of combo and run and etc) and also surely will be made MK trilogy HD where will use characters of this project.
is not better to make this animations (combo and run) now?

Welcome to here "giblet" :)

Dark Kombat looks horrible in gameplay and graphic.
Сompare this game with Mortal Kombat HD makes no sense.

Well actually I would like to get in touch with the creator. I am wondering what other game engines he knows how to program for? It is obvious that he is a better programmer than 3d artist but I can imagine a scenario where he teams up with Bleed, Arq and I to create a non MK game using Unity 4 or Unreal 4. Then we could release a game on multiple platforms at once. Also wonder if the 3d engine can be converted to 2D so that we could release the game on that platform instead of Mugen...

Engine doesn't determine if a game is 2D or 3D... it's what the developer does with it. You can even mix in entirely 2D sections into a 3D game such as with the UE3 based Alice Madness Returns and it's 2D platformer sections. So, it's entirely possible to make a game that has a 2D mode and a 3D mode.

Some people have even "converted" the doom engine to run Mortal Kombat II SNES and also Donkey Kong Country. Someone could probably "convert" that engine to be an HD 2D game engine as well.

If there was any information about the original assembly source, it could be ported to C++ and Direct-X 10, warts and all. By me possibly :P

Basically I would love to get together with a programmer who is motivated. I think that is more or less the missing puzzle piece we need to finish MK and eventually make our own game. How adept of a coder are you Giblet? How motivated? Do you have the skill to build MK in a different engine?

I think you would be better off looking for someone who could devote more time to it to be honest, although I can help out with engine physics and shaders, Mugen is still probably your best bet.

I'm working on other parts now, not messing with the head anymore.

Noticeable improvement there.
Good job.
If anything, I'd make his forehead/brow less protruding.
It's practically vertical in the original.

I'll have to second also on the issue about his brow/forehead.
It's protruding too much forward.
It's practically vertical in the original.

Eh good enough, wasted enough time that already. I tried it with the clean uniform like the games, but I don't like it. Having some dirt on it is better IMO.

I agree. Have you tried some sweat and grime on your Cage model? The shadow fall off is very linear also which is why it looks a little "CG". Humans generally have ugly knees and legs :P

I'm with you bleed, I think dirty looking is better and since they are fighting it's logical to be dirty..

here is the jumping animation one more time, I got rid of must of the pants popping and got rid of the cloth intersection as well... his head is not making that weird movement.... I will try to have the animations working in mugen to see if the cloth simulation looks strange when changing from one animation to the other.. so it will take some time for me since I haven't been able to make the pallete to work

EDIT
I think when I get the pants in black it will be harder to see the popping

It's looking better, especially when he lands.

What is catching my eye now is the way his hands stop moving as he comes off the ground. The hands should help him launch his body, and I think you'll need to deviate from the sprites a bit to achieve that sense of motion.

I wonder what the problem is with the pants, that you are having such a hard time getting rid of that pop.
