Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

I'm making poses and looking for things to fix. I'm not going to be able to match it exactly, but I can get a little closer with some adjustments.

I have some ideas, but let me know of any thoughts before I start animating, thanks.

nice work there bleed, I really like it... love his legs, did you add cloth modifier to his belt or whatever, I don't know how to call it LOL, can't wait to see your animations

This'll help, thanks.

I had a cloth sim on the sash, but I can't have the control I need with it. I have to animate it by hand to make sure it's exactly where I need it during transition frames.

This is looking fantastic Bleed! To me, he is ready for animation.

Just a minor thing I noticed with cage, the shadow in his ear is too dark, looks like hes wearing a hearing aid or something.

I dunno about you guys, but Cage looks plastic-ish to me. I'm not being an ass here, too. The project looks great. However, I feel some textures, shading or lighting on him could've been improved. Something just doesn't look right. Especially the "shoes", it's a solid block of black.

Bleed, have you tried a stronger rim light? The 2D MK games definitely had it, while I really haven't noticed it here yet. The shape definition stands out a bit more and it isn't boring to look at, you know?

I'm not using the final light setup, but I'll try to get that rim light working. I don't know about the skin. I don't have enough experience with the SSS skin shader to make it look real.

Looks like there is a problem with the shader on the shoes, I'll fix it.

Made a bunch of little changes... I think that's good enough. Unless I run in to some other problem, I'll start on animation tomorrow night.

I really hate to say it BUT....
NRS is working on MKHD game...

for those that know me, I have it on GOOD authority...
it has not been announced yet, obviously.

I hope I heard wrong, the race is on!

I'd say ditch SSS completely and just work with the standard shader :P In my experience with SSS I was missing a lot of details for some reason, and if the settings were wrong it looked like a plastic doll.

Also I'd suggest to try using falloff map as well with Fresnel angle if you're going for rim lighting. Will definitely help out with the definition.

Just a minor thing I would like to point out, his opened hand should be straight, like simulating a sword or something like that, I don't know if I explained myseflt, his fingers should be straight and not bend inward and for the strong light, I don't know how to use mental ray but just increase the value of the light coming from the back and it should do something, it looks better now

I get my satisfaction out of simply making this stuff and improving. It doesn't matter if it's outdone by NRS or anyone else.

I'm not sure if the "official" MKHD is a rumor or reality, but it doesn't matter. The community will be able to outdo NRS either way.

Why? Because there are legal constraints on NRS -- particularly when it concerns Johnny Cage. They can't make their Johnny Cage model resemble Daniel Pesina too closely or they could get sued. This is why in the 3D games they look almost nothing alike. Look at the models in MKDA, MKSM, and MK9. It's not the artists aren't skilled enough to make it look like Pesina, it's because of an MKII-era lawsuit between Pesina and Midway that prevents the team from using Pesina's likeness. I know other actors were involved as well but Pesina stands out the most in my mind.

Besides, artists at NRS can't resist adding their own personal artistic touches to the characters. Therefore they stray from the original and make it their own. It takes a certain level of dedication to force yourself to remain true to the classic, which is what the team on this board have done. Even the "classic" MK9 costumes aren't as classic as the ones in this game.

Good job, MKHD Kommunity team! I look forward to your finished product, whenever that might be.

Im having fun making all this funny faces working on facial animation, a got some of them... Just finish this and I'll be animating liu kang finally

If that is true, I'd expect their legal department to be contacting us pretty soon.
