Mortal Kombat Competitive 1 on 1 Match Idea's?

Hello everyone, I have come up with one of my own idea's of how a competitive 1v1 on Mortal Kombat Would go down. If any of you agree with these types of rules, Simply post at the bottom why you agree. Or why you do not. Feel free to post your own rules of how you think a constructed 1v1
online match would go. I myself would be abiding by these rules during my matches. I have come up with a simple to follow plan. In my opinion to be fair and easy to follow.

********************************************************************************

You will not be fighting under the traditional 2 Round - 90 Second Matches.
It will be 3 Round's, No time limit.

One full pledged match does NOT Declare the winner![/SIZE]
Instead of having one match of 3 rounds, You will have 4 full matches. First to 4 is declared the winner.

Loser of previouse match, Pick's next arena.
Who ever loses to his opponent and has a loss under his belt. Is free to pick the next arena.[/

You are not stuck with one character.
After a match is over, You are free to choose whatever character you like.

No RAGE quitting!Rage quitting is an automatic disqualification of all four matches.

********************************************************************************

Those are my rules that will be implimented by me. Leave you're thoughts or ideas.

(Still working on the tag team rule's)

May I remind you. These rules only apply to player's who take there Mortal Kombat online matches to a competitive level!

I also think certain levels should be not allowed, such as the Bell Tower. There are ropes that go infront of the screen and provide an unnecessary distraction.

Not necessarily, you just have to learn how to play on that stage. If rules like these keeps applying, then you will have a game with a lot of restrictions. Keep it simple.

I like the ideas. I wonder if rules can be changed at all for online play? Perhaps the host can change them and if the challenger agrees to them, they'll apply or choose to have default rules?

I think the only thing that should be touched on in terms of rules are the rounds, the times, and the brackets.

If you restrict characters or levels, then you are throwing off the balance of the game.

Definitly, Restricting character's & arenas has to be the dumbest thing someone can possibly do. Also If the Bell Tower arena seem's to have rope's that cause distraction's, i think that will be the less favored map to most or ALL player's as the game settle's in with everybody. Or you might just run into one of those player's who use the rope's as an advantage. Over all, I think Arena & Character selection should not be something you can make rule's on.

By the way, Guy's. Thank's for all of the Comment's!

If you guys want some serious competetive tournament gameplay you will most-definitely restrict the characters and levels. In all tournament-based gamee (fighting games, FPS games, or anything else), things are always restricted. Like in Halo, everyone must wear the default armor, no equipment (H3), only certain maps are in play, etc. In some fighting games in tournaments DLC characters and hidden characters aren't allowed, round time and numbers are set, even some starting roster characters can be exempt.

Hmm, Sounds really competitive! But i dont understand why you would want to exempt certain player's? What if someone FAVORS the character you happened to exempt?!

Not sure what kind of fighting games you are referring to but in MvC3, DLC's and full roster are allowed. Actually, I dont even know one thing that isnt allowed in MvC3, same with SSF4 tournaments.

The only thing that will not be allowed in FUTURE MK tournaments is the use of Kratos only because he is a console exclusive. But if its an online PSN tournament, im sure Kratos will be allowed.

Exactly, I find that to be silly to exempt character's. Only way i would allow that is if the character that is being exempt, Breaks your block with every attack. Can hit you in between combo's ect. lol

Hmm, Do you guy's really see a differance in Having a fight stick or a Controller? I would allow both of those during gameplay.

No difference, all format should be allowed. The only reason why pdp is doing that is because they made the sticks. It would only make sense if they are holding a tournament and promoting their sticks. Besides for 10k grand prize, I'd abide by the rules no problem lol.
