Mortal Kombat 11 General Discussion Media Thread

This is what they need to do. Period

KP 1 : Rain, Smoke, Fujin, Sindel, Reptile, Havik

KP 2 : Ermac, Takeda, Nightwolf, Sareena, Kenshi, Cyrax

Literally something for everyone. We all win. No guests (not likely. Hell they're definitely more likely than Kenshi and Cyrax but whatever)..

Switch Sindel for Li Mei :)

I'd rather have a guest over half of those characters

I'm still trying to understand the sudden demand for Havik to be in this game. Granted he had a decent gameplay in deception where he was able to contort his body as part of some special moves and had a prominent part in the MKX comics but other than that, I still don't understand the appeal.

Can someone indulge me about what makes him special?

He's unique. His weird body horror attacks and his batshit insane persona make him charming, especially compared to most from the 3d era.

I think people just like Havik because he's from the Chaos Realm and has a more monstrous appearance. I personally think he's very boring but since I don't have any disdain towards the character. I wouldn't have any issues with him becoming a playable character once again

I guess so. He's definitely got some unique stuff about.

I don't have any disdain for him or any character for that matter in general (apart from Dairou and Hsu Hao). I actually kind of like him and he has potential to be a good character in this 2d era but I would pick other characters before him.

I won't mind if he's in it though.

The only reason he's boring is because he's never had a chance to shine in game. He was a fantastic antagonist in the comics. He's featured in some of the best moments and his fight with Scorpion is probably the best in the whole series, especially when he rips off his own face. He's also shown to be way more powerful than we've ever seen in the games.

Since the roster is likely 99% true, this is what I predict the DLC packs will be.

Kombat Pass 1:
Fujin
Reptile
Sindel
Nightwolf
Spawn
Michael Myers

Kombat Pass 2:
Havik
Ermac
Sareena
Takeda
T-800 (The Terminator)
Robocop (Both T-800 and Robocop crossover before like Alien & Predator did, it would make sense to add both of them)

I share a similar opinion about him. I think he's too overrated when it comes to 3d characters (we all know in a group they are all underrated, but of them all, he's one that has never shown nothing and people are too much OOOOHHH about him).

Comics gave him a good chance to shine, pretty good, but Havik isn't a character, as some see, that I share the perspective of being mastermind of anything. He's a secondary, if not lesser, antagonist, and that's it. Of course he's powerful, manipulative, but that's it.

On the other hand, I think I have this view of him because it's always about him being behind webs of characters that we all know would kick his ass. I'm not saying he isn't interesting, he is a lot, but I'd rather see him in a context against Orderrealm.

Chaosrealm vs Orderrealm is something Havik would certainly shine better IMO. He's at home. And a good chance for Hotaru to come back.

I don't think he should be condemned to such a shallow role. His whole deal in MKX was that he was trying to destroy the Netherrealm because the concept of death has to much order to it. His motivations are one dimensional, he hates order, but the ways he goes about achieving his goals are what's impressive. He can fit into any story NRS wants to weave because he's such a wildcard. He's more dangerous than the majority of the villains in the series because of how far he's willing to go. He'll ally himself with anyone, betray anyone and do anything to just bring in some chaos.

Especially after his showing in MKX, I'd say Havik is far from overrated.

Havik is on my list of characters I would like to see brought back, I think he brings in unique ideas for moves gameplay wise, and his character has a decent amount of potential if they did more with him ( I personally wasn't super fond of his portrayal in the comics). I feel like Chaos realm and order realm in general need more developement, as there's a lot of interesting ideas there that could be worked into decent plot. I don't think it will happen this game, but I hope we do eventually get a game that focuses more on that conflict.

Mostly because Havik's disgusting moveset would be great with the modern mechanics and gameplay. I think he's a well designed character. And the fact that he's chaotic and batsh*t crazy would make him extremely fun and unpredictable to play as.

As far as what he can offer to the story.. A lot of things. But as much as I want a great story with great character development, the current story mode structure kind of hinders that. So I have to separate how a character plays compared to how important they are in the grand scheme of things.

I think the comics gave a new oxygen for him, but before that, there was still a fanbase if we might say this way that already asked for him.

But I'm not against, would be nice to have him, it's just the number of voices that surprises me.

Still, I think Hotaru should have the same chance. He's a damn cool general, and they should make the seidan guard more active. Imagine if Havik was some high profile wanted criminal in Orderrealm (he totally is), but they kept moving forces one realm against another. And everytime I think things like these I try not to dream, because right now the theme of Order and Chaos would fit a lot. Havik would probably be against Raiden, Hotaru on his side.

Also, Orderrealm could be much more "friendly" with Cassie and Johnny instead of the a-holes they were in Deception, and Chaosrealm should be much more aggresive than it was in the same game.

Basically he is Heath Ledger "Joker" of MK universe. At least in comics.
