Mortal Kombat 11 General Discussion Media Thread

If it's 7 Premiere skins, I'm wondering who those other characters would be and I think I'd prefer if those characters were fleshed out.

For example, as much as Frost could be a Sub-Zero Premiere skin (if they really wanted to), I'd rather see her fleshed out rather than just being a skin.

Well they made all this talk about new Generation and passing the torch. So Frost being the student of Sub Zero... you would think....

That's what I'm hoping, but I'm also wondering "how much of Injustice 2's 'Customize Character' menu is carrying over to MK11?"

Because it would have been better to have those characters being put in with their own original move-sets.

Can you honestly say that you were 100% fine with having to buy an MK guest character (Raiden) in an Injustice game, just for Black Lighting (a DC character) to be playable?

I think Premiere Skins could work if they are not necessarily money grab.

While DC has much more characters than MK, it looks more interesting for DC than MK, except for Frost <-> Sub-Zero examples.

Aside from that, I worry more about them bloating the roster with BS characters (and while I respect who likes, but guest characters are included IMO) rather MK characters.

Some characters that usually are considered trash (by NRS mostly), Frost, Jarek, Reiko, Havik, Nitara, Mavado, Taven & Daegon, Kira & Kobra, they can have a pretty nice revamp IF they have the chance to shine. Nowadays is very different, look at what they did with Shinnok who was surpiringly one of the most screwed characters despite the need to be the real big bad.

Idk about premier skins, but since they have gear hopefully they do something like Soul Caliber. You fight alot of random people who are just using the fighting style of characters on the roster.

In MK it could be You fight members of the Lin kuei, instead of Sub. Or random Special forces members instead of the kombat kids.

This way at least some characters in the story mode aren't treated like punching bags all the time.

"MK11: The Reveal is coming up and we are eager to announce the #MKXMobile game name will update to “Mortal Kombat” with our next release! We want to assure our players that it will continue to be the main game for all MK mobile experiences. Stay tuned for more updates!"

Chance of MK mobile cross-unlocks for MK11 since the name will be changed from "Mortal Kombat X" to just "Mortal Kombat" and will coincide with MK11?

Never bothered with the mobile game. I just don't see myself playing a poor man's MK while taking a shit.

I liked playing it and unlocking skins like Cybernetic Jacqui and Undercover Cassie.
Much better way to unlock stuff rather than lootboxes / motherboxes, imo.

Seems like the same argument against clones in Smash. It takes much more time to make a full character than a skin. This was the only way these characters were ever going to be added to the game. And I think it's a great way to add obscure characters to the game that would have never been able to hold their own roster spot like Grid, Vixen and Bizarro did in Injustice 2.

Black Lightning was nothing but a bonus, that's how I see him. He wasn't going to have his own spot on the roster. The only way he would've made it in is through Raiden. So I'm totally cool with it.

I believe they said during an Injustice 2 live stream that they couldn't do female premiere skins for male characters because of the hit box changes that would have to be made so I don't see that happening. If she's in the game she'll be her own character.

Man that shit was retarded. They fleshed 80 damn guest characters but couldn't give the "premiere skins" they're own movesets?? Dumb as . Especially when they added some DC characters anyway in the future. Stupid shit.

You're talking about turning costumes into separate characters. That takes way too much time and resource. Like I said earlier, this was the only way some of these characters were going to be playable. Grid was never going to get his own spot in a game that already has Cyborg, but the fact that they gave him his own costume, voice actor and interactions shows more than enough effort imo.

Premiere skins let them expand the roster in ways that would've have been viable before. They did the same thing with Human Sektor/Cyrax in MK9,and I hope they do more like that in MK11

That's for Unreal 3, though.
MK11 is being done on Unreal 4, IIRC.
Would the same be true for Unreal 4?

Well good thing, that Frost won't get that treatment at least. Either she appears as her own char, or doesn't show up at all. From technicall standpoint she can't be Sub Zero's skin as she would have entirely different hit boxes.

It isn't the matter of engine being used. It could be done on Unreal Engine 3 as well, but the thing is, it would be a technical nightmare and waste of effort. Making Frost a premiere skin would require the same amount of work as making a new character. Moveset included. You can't apply male animation skeleton on female.

Wanna know why females looked manly in MK9 and Injustice 1? That's how it looks when you apply same skeleton for both chars.

They would have to redo hit boxes, moveset, facial animations.... just make whole character at that point. It would be really stupid decision to make her as a skin, if it requires that much effort.
