Reptile in MK1 I am suprised I never saw a way to play since he is just a little hack of the other ninjas. There is probably some way if someone can figure out how they hacked it in to fight against him (I believe when you fight against Reptile the character selection variable is still Sub or Scorp so he isn't in there as a standalone character like say Noob in UMK3 who is playable with cheats).

Like he said, there are codes to play as the bosses in every MK game. Most of the games didn't really allow you to play as them legitimately (i.e. via cheat codes that the developers put in), but you can play as them if you use cheat devices (like Game Genie or Gameshark) on your consoles. And yes, that includes Moloch.
Any time you use one of those cheats, though, realize that they're not going to work the way you envision them to, because they allow you to play as characters that weren't originally meant to be playable. Also, as Dreemer said, you will often crash the games by using those cheats.

meh, it'd be great to play as Shang Tsung or Goro or Reptile in MK1. They're the cream of the crop, much like Subby, Scorps, Raiden, Johnny Cage, and Liu Kang. Heck that's practically the whole cast of the game. Well, I admit, it's a good one.

in the Gameboy verson you could play as Goro. He's unlockable though and I don't know how to get him
