Wouldn't be surprised if he's alluding to the MK1 & MKII characters on that roster like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Liu Kang and Johnny Cage which are all on the MK website FAQ and on the MK4 roster as well..... or also Reptile.
People should know by now never to give Boon the benefit of the doubt.

Have a feeling that the gameplay reveal on Thursday is just going to be some of the same klassic characters shown in the CGI trailer + Johnny Cage and then (as if no one saw it coming from a fucking mile away with the MK12 Jonathan Andersen "Reptile" teaser image)...............Reptile teaser.

We will see soon! NRS has a horrible marketing strategy, they dont know what the fans want, they think they do! Boon/WB lost my trust a long time ago, the expectations are extremly high. From a graphical standpoint they will knock it out of the part no doubt. Presentation wise? Hmmm we'll see Im not holding my breath on that. So far from the trailer its giving me MK2 Outworld vibes which has been done a million times already. Yes I love Outworld just like anybody else, but is this game gonna have that dark gothic atmosphere like MK4/Mythologies/DA? Yeah I dont think so. MK needs to have that blend of ancient chinese mythology with the horror goth. MK nowadays tooo "earth" like for my taste. Alot of ppl are tired of the special forces sci fi krap they keep spewing.

At this point I'll be utterly shocked if it's not 1 of those 2 (Reptile or Johnny Cage).

The Jandy leak from last year with "MK12" and "Reptile" conveniently there and Johnny Cage being listed as playable in the FAQ (to me) points to 1 of those 2 (or both) likely to be shown today.
I find those 2 to be suspiciously absent so far given that the CGI reveal trailer was essentially the majority of the MKII roster.
Like, had it just been either Scorpion or Liu Kang vs _________ character in that trailer then it would be anyone's guess and maybe I'd have an ounce optimism about today and the chances of seeing maybe Reiko at the stream.
I just don't find it coincidental that Mileena was in that first CGI trailer to calm her fans down and get more people to pre-order, and lots of people were upset that Reptile wasn't playable in MK11.🤷‍♂️
 
The only reason why I don't want to see Derptile in MK12 is because there's a 99% chance they'll fuck him up. That's simply what NRS does.

If he plays good and looks the part, without being made a laughing stock in the story mode, that'll be an incentive for me....

Laughing stock in story mode seems to be the case for most characters not named Raiden, Liu Kang, Sub-Zero and Scorpion, but having a good arc for him would be a nice change and I hope that for you he plays great and looks the part.
For me, at this point I don't care if it's main roster or DLC, but I'd like to see characters like Reiko, Kai Li Mei, Sareena, Nitara, Havik and Daegon getting their time to shine.
 
I dunno about you guys, but as far as graphics go, this game looks like SHIT.

It looks like they've upgraded to Unreal 4, because it has that plastic feel to it, and the motion blur.... So I was wrong about UE3..... But FUCK is it UGLY....

Just few quick examples.... Also the tone of the storymode is just.... WEIRD 🤣 I felt like I was getting trolled?....

The gameplay looks like ass..... Very slow, CLUNKY AND STIFF animations, and the cameos are just.... lame?.... Nothing really new. Plus I expected more detail.....

This was such a weird experience 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I went to sleep after shower. Missed entire reveal. Get up to Xenon laughing. Proceed to watch MK11 Expansi... pfu... sorry. MK12... PFU. My bad. Mortal Kombat ONE gameplay reveal.

First and foremost. What kind of shitty ass marketing is this? This is gameplay reveal? In which part of the trailer, I was supposed to see justification for 70 bucks? Any new game modes? ANYTHING? Really?

That's what all the hype was about?
This is MK11 Part 2 with prettier graphics. And then I say prettier graphics, I mean arenas. Cause sure as hell, character designs are not making me turn my head. And nice to see, that I get sunshine and pretty peaceful colors with my blood on top.
The fuck are these downgraded, realistic outfits? I have trouble telling who is Raiden and who is Kung Lao. Didn't realize that was Johnny Cage, until the middle finger part. And only later realized, his opponent was Kenshi.
Couldn't they have picked plainer clothes for fighters? What's next? Cargo shorts and pajama shirts? Don't forget to put in Nikes shoes for some extra advertisement!
Nah legit. What did they show here? There... is nothing really. This is just a modernized, hollywood garbage. The fact that one of the stages takes place in a luxury penthouse says everything I need.

Mileena having disease, instead of... yeah. You know what? I can't even laugh at this. This is just... nothing. I just woke up refreshed and almost wanted to go to sleep again after watching this. The mythology of MK is dead.
As for gameplay itself... this is MK11. THIS. IS. MK11. You can tell me all you want, guys. This feels like continuation of MK11. Those Kameos are just... assists. I mean we knew it was gonna be assists, but you could have made it into something interesting. Instead... this is EXACT same mechanic, what you can see in MK11.

AND THAT'S THEIR SELLING FEATURE?

And people were talking about Konquests, puzzle games coming back and shit.
Maybe they will show some small game modes, but apparently, they aren't anything special, if they don't show them on reveal. And if they do have something like that to show, then they suck at marketing, cause first impressions...

And just for the record. I am not even comparing this to SF6 gameplay reveal. Cause there is nothing to compare. All the hype... just.. eh. Whatever.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but when a game charges 70 bucks, it better show me content worth 70 bucks. If it is just fighting, I can play anything else. Cause this MK11 Expansion hasn't show me anything, what I haven't seen in MK11.
 
Ok. My bad. Apparently, there was even more of game showed after the gameplay trailer. They actually showed character select screen and actual in game footage. I see they don't even bother with interface design. Everything is modern and minimalistic.

I was wondering what this entire thing is reminding me of. The games you see people play in movies. That's pretty much it.
So bare bones design, Kameos are just assists, gameplay is a bit faster MK11, mythology is dead and everything is modernized. Well. I wanted to see what they have to offer and now I can walk away. Cause I feel absolutely nothing here. There isn't enough to be excited about or to even hate anything. Just... yeah.

Soulless corporate cashgrab. That's what MK is now.

The kameos were klassic MK1 and MKII characters and Kenshi was in.
In all honesty that came as a surprise to me
I guess that makes it 2 from the post-MK3 era if we also count the Amazon Italy leak.
Not a good start, but not terrible either. Eh, we'll see.

As usual, though, the same characters from the trailer that we've seen in MK9, MKX and MK11 + Johnny Cage & Kenshi.

Not to mention, it was Ed himself who said "LoTs Of ThInGs WiLl Be AnSwErEd". Also this has been paraded as some NuMK that "shakes the cage" (Boon's words as well).

Okay well....
- Same MK11/Injustice 2 shenanigan
- Shitty graphics, animations
- Slowwwww gameplay
- Breakers are back, so are normal meters
- You can aircombo now
- Cameos
- Cringe storymode scenes

....That's as barebones as it could be?... Especially the game that's been taking pre-orders with special editions and $70+ price tag. Even the little speech Ed himself gave wasn't that deep.... Sub-Zero and Scorpion are brothers now..... and?....
 
Overall the trailer was overhyped as shit. Nothing crazy was shown off. Not a bad trailer by any means, but lazy and uninspired. Didn't generate any hype or have any build up.

Overall the gameplay seems fun. More combos and Kameos will add good diversity in gameplay.

The game might need more polish, but it's just 3 months away so I'm not sure how much can be done in that time. Seems like a downgrade in fidelity from MK11 though.

The Kameos are everything I wanted them to be. I love how they chill on select screen, show up in your intros, Fatal Blows and even fatalities. They aren't just assists that walk away, but actual partners and thats fucking brilliant.
