Maybe not all sunshine and raibows but I'll gladly take sunshine and a few thunderstorms.
Takeda looks fucking awesome in the gameplay breakdown that they did and Ferra looks fun as shit.
Li Mei and Kameo Frost (my mains in this game) are getting some love in the buff / moves department with Frost having a new move that creates an ice wall and essentially giving you conrner combos from anywhere.
Like, this will be the first Invasion Season since Raiden's Invasion season (with the Tea House rain variant) where I'm not ONLY going to be using Takeda and Ferra for it to level the characters up, but actually enjoy the process of it.
For the "year 2" stuff there have been hints at Animalities, supposedly Friendships were found in the files too and as long as we get some new stages and / or stage Fatalities then I'll be good with that.
Not huge on klassic characters being DLC for the expansion pack, but I'll gladly support those MK characters any day over guests.
Takeda update comes tomorrow, and even though I didn't get the KP I'll start leveling up my free kameo Ferra in the meantime in Invasions until Takeda is available to me next week.
MS rewards points paying for most of it means that I will have spent $19 total for Quan Chi, Ermac, Takeda and 5 kameos by the time that the DLC for KP1 is done.
Not too shabby and I didn't have to over-pay just to get the MK characters for DLC.

Can confirm that kameo Ferra is fun as hell to use.
Been having a blast using her with Li Mei and leveling her up in Invasions until I get my hands on Takeda next week.
Weekly Towers for Takeda are okay, but the environmental hazard bullshit interruptions means not getting a full feel for him, and at this point I'm collecting his background cards and stuff like that in those towers.
Once I can fully lab with him then it'll be more fun.

Agreed.
Takeda and Ferra together are also fun as hell.
1 & 1/2 of my MKX mains are back and it feels awesome.
They're the anti-Reiko and anti-Nitara when if comes to the annoying as fuck matches vs those characters in the Invasion mode or Seasonal Tower.
Ferra on her own is just fun as hell.

In other unrelated but still gaming news. It looks like Game Informer was recently closed down by Game Stop. It's obviously not surprising in this day and age but still sad to see gaming magazines go the way of the dodo. RIP. Gaming magazines are how I got into MK.

Finally some negative news! Both Commander and BBBLP have been driving me crazy with their positive attitudes for days. Having fun and shit.
Man, this forum used to be filled with bitching, now it is just bunch of unicorns and rainbows.
That aside, yeah. I remember this magazine all to well. Half of my childhood. Cost A LOT to get it in my place back then.
Sucks for that to happen, but with today's game urnalists... not surprising either.

Meh... let em be happy for a change. There will always be something to complain about in the future trust me besides I don’t just post here to bitch and be negative all the time. It’s just most of the gaming news related to MK or otherwise has for the most part been negative IMO.
I’m happy for everyone who’s found enjoyment in MK1 after the patches but I decided to hold off on MK1 until Khaos reigns dlc is fully released. Hopefully in a Komplete edition form.

That was a joke. I am happy, that someone is happy. Just writing random stuff, cause I have nothing else to write and writing on this forum is more or less a habit at this point.
I pretty much dropped any care for MK1 or any future media.. I found that sweet, sweet spot, where I can enjoy Mortal Kombat, without caring what WB/NRS does with it. Complete
And I mean... those guys got away with murder. They charged 70 bucks, gave less content, than MK11 (literally charging more for less), dropped online support on entire continent (Africa), dropped late crossplay update (that barely functions), rushed out an unfinished game and got... rewarded for it with top sales!
I kinda hoped that people might have some common sense, especially when you have Tekken 8 and Street fighter 6, showing what a fighting game looks like with content, but... blind consumerism for the win. WB/NRS in the end proved that they can sell the bare minimum and walk to the bank laughing. So with such behavior rewarded, I can see the future of the MK already. There is absolutely no reason for them to innovate or put any effort.
So I am happy just forgetting that those games exist. I have older MK games anyway and my personal custom collection of MK goodies. Plus if people find joy in current MK1, then just for the btter. Better fun, than disappointment.

They gave me 1 & 1/2 of my mains back and they both are pretty fun and Frost -my most used kameo- got a cool update (no pun intended), so that's a little bit of a win for me.
Plus, while I don't care for Khaos Reigns and will watch that story when it inevitably ends up on YouTube......Hooray for Animalities!
Maybe Sindel will turn into a 40,000 year old cougar. Lol
I'm at a point where if NRS / WB wants to give me free things like that (Animalities) in an update or the '95 Scorpion skin, I'll take it.
I'm not really interested in using the '95 Scorpion skin, but whatever.....free is free in a game where they charge for everything.
Sucks to hear about Game Informer, though.
Could have sworn that it was in either 1 of their magazines, GamePro or 1 of the other gaming magazines that I got the PS1 demo for Metal Gear Solid 1, back in the day.

So meaning NRS will be sold off WITH the whole MK franchise (included) to some other corp, or that NRS says bye to MK after this and someone else will work on MK games from here on out that isn't Boon and Co?
On a more positive gaming note, Raf Colantonio (1 of the co-creators who did Dishonored 1 and Prey) and his studio (Wolfeye Studios) are doing a new game in the vein of Dishonored & Prey (probably first-person) so I'm fucking psyched for that!

That is positive news. Every time a greedy corpo falls, it puts a smile on my face.
As for MK it ain't clear. Most of the signs show that MK IP might just get sold. NRS has no capability of operating by itself nor have the funds to buy themselves out. They are too connected to their parent company. First it was Midway and now WB. So it depends on the company that buys the assets. They either will only buy MK IP or buy NRS too.
Though the problem is that MK IP has now become quite the headache license wise. The last 3 games were heavy on using characters from different franchises owned by WB. If WB sells MK, then... oof.

New game will have a Prey look to it, with seemingly a Dishonored feel, in first-person with an Obsidian type of story telling.
As for MK, eh......as long as that someone isn't Dominic Cianciolo is doing the story then maybe the next one won't be utter shit.
THAT SAID.......Prepare for reboot #3 whenever that happens
First the MK9 reboot, now the MK1 reboot and then later another reboot............. for fucks sake.
At the very least if all goes downhill for MK from here on out then MK1 went out with a bang for me with 8 post-MK3 main roster characters, 5 post-MK3 kameos, 2 MKX kameos and Takeda.....as well as Animalities coming now in September.

I'll take the upcoming Wolfeye Studios game, Clockwork Revolution, Alkahest and the remainder of whatever MK1 has to offer and I'm done with gaming for the most part, unless if maybe after the Blade game then Arkane Lyon decides to give me Dishonored 3.
