"April 2011 represents the first month that new physical retail sales of content showed growth in both units and dollars since November of last year."

"The Xbox 360 platform generated the greatest unit sales of new physical content at over 3.5 million units for the month, followed by the Nintendo DS platform. The Nintendo DS, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 platforms all generated greater unit sales of content versus April 2010."

"The best-selling game of the month is Mortal Kombat 2011, which sold just under 900K units in its first month at retail."

"Portal 2 was the second best selling game in April. According to our PC digital download report, the original Portal was the fifth most downloaded game in 2010, and was available for free when Steam launched on Mac. Portal's performance on the PC, coupled with the success of the Orange Box on consoles undoubtedly helped prime the fan base for Portal 2."

"The content slate was stronger this year versus last April. Five games sold more than 250K units in April 2011 as opposed to just two last April."

"Games that would appear in the top ten ranking on a SKU basis for April include "NDS POKEMON BLACK VERSION," and "PS3 SOCOM 4: U.S. NAVY SEALS." If sales of the SOCOM Move accessory bundle were combined with software sales, this game would have ranked in the top ten titles as well."

yeah this is incredible over a million in less then a month. This means the MK franchise has officially been successful. congratulations to Ed Boon NRS and WB for helping to make this happen, I predict over 2 million before there first fiscal year.
the only thing im curious about is why its already down to only 40.00 after it sold so well?

Since its a computer game as well, I'm sure a lot has been torrenting the game as well... including myself :D Online play is boring anyways.

Why is that something to be proud of? Theres nothing to be proud of when you're ripping off a game and disrespecting all the hard-working developers at NRS. They've put years into this and worked god knows how many hours to give us the best MK game in 10+ years, and you can't even do the decent thing and drop $50 on it to show your appreciation. Pretty low.

To be fair Portal 2 doesn't do well as retail, I bet you 95% of the people bought it through Steam.

Those figures sound like they might include steam, based on this bit from the report:

I read that part but it is still weird because Steam numbers are only available to Valve like always and they never give those numbers out, unless they release them personally. Either way, I bought both.

And the guy you quoted "theme23xcp", I think he was saying he pirated Portal 2 and not MK, which is still a horrible thing to do.
