MK:AK PC bugs

I've found 3 bugs in MK:AK for the PC. Either that, or I'm just too dumb to think of a way to fix them myself. :P

1st bug - I can't find a way to play a local 2-player game unless (I think) two gamepads are present. I can't map keyboard commands for Player 2, or reassign a sole gamepad to Player 2. The big downside to this is the UKKs in UMK3 - No Mileena, Ermac or Classic Sub-Zero in local play without 2 pads.

2nd bug - The game creates a log file every time it runs (called Launch-backup-[Date]-[Time].log, saved in the ...\MKHDGame\Logs folder), but old log files aren't being deleted. The files are small, but they'll make a dent in drive space over time.

EDIT: This might not be a bug, after all. After looking some more in the ini files, the log files may be deleted after 3 days. I'll keep an eye on that one.

3rd bug - There isn't a way to switch resolutions (that I can find).

3rd bug workaround - I was able to find a way to launch the game in windowed mode, at least. Stops the game from messing up my desktop when I close it. In the MKHDEngine.ini file, in the ...\MKHDGame\Config folder, swapping "FullScreen=true" to "FullScreen=false" will work. I wasn't able to force a Full Screen resolution switch, though - changing the values of "ResX" and "ResY" don't change anything.

Any more bugs, or any solutions?

Solution : Mame & Kalliera.

Ah sure, I have a few hundred dollars to buy the arcade boards and play the ROMs legally... why not...? :P

EDIT: Seriously, I have MK:AK for the PS3 - the PC version I bought is for a laptop. However, I figure those without a console (or a desire to break the law) could find this topic handy.

Didn't you see the hipster shades in his avatar? lol

Love the game, but I can't believe how locked out it is. No command line switches seem to work, and that ini edit you mentioned is the only one I've seen that doesn't get overwritten. But I definitely want to thank you for it :)

No worries. :)

Have you guys tried write protecting the ini file before launching the game again?

EDIT: Write protecting it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Instead of editing the config, you could just press alt+enter to go to windowed mode. It remembers it for the next launch, too.

I keep getting "Out of Virtual Memory" error. The game starts, and a few seconds into the first round (any version I try to play) the game begins to lag horribly, with 2-20 second pauses, then finally I'll get the VR memory message. I have enough room (280gigs still free), Win7 64bit, 16gigs memory, quad core, ATI 5870's. When I check, the page file is 8183, and the max is at 16384.

Any ideas what's going on? I haven't been able to play this since I got it.

I respect this man so much haha.

And he is so damn right about the MKAK audio it does need fixed. We were promised ''Arcade perfect''. Bugged and skippy audio builds a barrier to the perfect arcade.

MK1:
Goro's lair doesn't play
Clapping sound is different
Uppercut and blood sounds different too.

MK2:
Some moves like sub zero's freeze sound bugged
ALL SOUNDTRACKS either have a skip in them or a little pause......LAME because MK2 had the best soundtracks.

UMK3
Only needs to be a little louder.

Thought id do this because im bored. And now annoyed at this haha

But seriously im sure they won't just leave everything else that needs fixed.......

NEWSFLASH!

1. Most of these issues are MKAK issues, not just PC version.

2. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "ARCADE PERFECT". Everyone, from Ed Boon to the person who said it in this thread need to remove it from their vocabulary asap.

3. MKAK is a joke. It cant be fixed by a patch. The whole thing is wrong from the ground up. So unless its a "patch" that re-downloads a completely different product, dont bother.

4. I'll throw this out there, but the HD remakes of MK1/MK2/UMK3 should never happen. Refilm, remake, redo MK Trilogy. It was way too screwed up and buggy the first time. They owe it to us, especially after this MKAK debacle.

PS- please ignore TMK. that is all.

Erm if they could fix online and brightness and other issues im sure they can fix the audio in MKAK. That's what patches are for.

Also a few nights ago i asked boon if we would expect another patch for MKAK. His response to me was i am not sure if there is another one in the works?.
