@VictorMefer - Thank you for pointing out the flaps look samurai like, and at the same time agreeing with me. I know it may seem out of character when you put Liu Kang and Samurai together, but I doubt the flaps were inspired by that. Either way, it does look samurai like.

Well... in either case, I think he looks think enough as compared to everyone else. In fact, I think he could be one of the only, real different body graphics that are actually different besides Goro.

What is everyone's opinion about his champion belt? Could this mean he's destined to win both Mortal Kombat tournaments again? I mean, it could still be possible that he doesn't win the first tournament and this costume is just possibly an alternate like Jax's cybernetic arms (which we know he doesn't get until right before Shao Kahn's invasion of Earth).

No way bro... Look at the Trap muscles, MK8 Liu Kang's are HUGE!!! Plus Robin Shou isnt as cut or defined as MK8 Liu Kang, MK9 Liu Kang doesnt look that cut or defined either which is good because thats how the actors were in MK 1-3.

I doubt it. I mean, it's possible, but considering Liu Kang already has his champion belt even before MK1's tournament even happens doesn't make sense. Therefore, I think it's possible they're just secondary costumes. Jax might not have cybernetic arms and Liu Kang might not have a belt and/or headband as an alternate.

But I would assume he would wear something in regards to the Shaolin or White Lotus Society (the petal). The Mortal Kombat symbol represents the will of the Elder Gods, I think, so I would assume it would represent his status as their champion?

The only problem I have with Liu's design is with those stupid red things attached to the side of his pants. They're about as unnecessary as Scorpion's ridiculous shoulder pads.

I disagree there brother, I think it adds something that wouldve been otherwise lacking if they werent there. If they werent there, he would have Marshall Laws costume from tekken, minus the head band and dragon design on Law's pants. I like how they went from Black to Navy Blue, it looks mighty better.

@Aldo - Exactly, I think they have something to do with his belt.

I know this is going to sound crazy but maybe those flaps are a carrying place for liu's nunchaku (if he has any)

Sometimes less is more. And I think the flaps are too much. I mean, they simply look uncomfortable and difficult to fight with. They're just so unnecessary.

I say its something the Shaolin gave them to repersent them. I mean look at it. It is like so, I don't know, Shaolinish. I mean, Goro use to be the Champion and those things don't look like they fit Goro one bit.

EDIT: Or he has them for decorations on him to make him look better cause they do go with the wristbands.
