Speak for yourself. I am a HUGE Friday the 13th fan and Jason has me more hyped up than any character NRS has announced in a long ass time. I am dead serious. When I saw the announcement this morning, my hype meter for this game went through the roof. For the past few months, learning that Cage, Sonya, Jax, Ermac, Reptile and such were in the game made my hype level go severely down to the point where I honestly debated cancelling my pre order because I hated how the roster was shaping up.
I cannot WAIT to use Jason and am so excited to see what his brutalities are going to be.

I wonder how NRS got the rights to use Jason if Jason is the hands of Paramount now? I'm pretty sure Jason was added due to fan demand. Imagine Jason, Predator and Spawn got the biggest request on Ed's twitter.

As for Jason, I see it this way:
MKX isn't supposed to be a nostalgia game like MK9 was.
I'm not for or against DLC guests in MKX.
Hell, with the breath of fresh air that these 8 new characters bring to MKX, I'm not even annoyed by the 3 dead coming back.
I would have liked to see more post-MK3 debut characters, but, oh well.
Maybe DLC.
If not, then Kotal Kahn and Kung Jin can be my Fujin and Reiko replacements.

One off licensing deals/agreements aren't unheard of. There is a good possibility that the rights holders pay WB/NRS to include the character. There is a new Friday the 13th movie coming out this year if Im not mistaken.

The new Friday movie comes out next May since the movie got push back so many times. I see many people that want Ash but I doubt Ash will ever appear in a MK game. Sam Raimi is against other people using Ash without his approval. I doubt he wants to see Ash get rip in half in a fighting game.
At least this rate, I think horror guest characters are going to become common in MK. I bet MK11 will have Michael Myers or Pinhead by 2019. I do think the second guest in MKX is a non horror character though.

Warner Brothers gave up the rights for Friday the 13th to get Interstellar, and since that movie is still kinda new, I bet the Jason Vorhees deal was in place before the transaction was finalized.

But on the matter of Jason, I'm quite happy about it. I enjoy the Friday the 13th films and I think Jason Vorhees is a cool character. He certainly fits better than Freddy did in MK9, and one of my best friends is a HUGE Jason Vorhees fan so it's cool to see him getting even more pumped about the game now that he's in. I can understand why some people are disappointed and they have a right to be, I know I would be if a guest character I didn't care about made it in over a classic MK character. I just hope we get more DLC than we did in MK9, because this game is looking amazing so far!
