Jade Problems?

I'm seriously having problems with Jade's Shadow Flash. Now, on the surface, it's a useful and effective tool in Jade's arsenal. It's practically a major part of her gameplay. The problem? She doesn't seem to want to do it half the time. Seriously, half the time she'll do a kick, or throw a low boomerang. And given how slow her projectile is, that's a death sentence.

And I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is. It's how her special moves are laid out. Not only does she have her Shadow Flash mapped to the 3 button, with a Back, Forward, 3 input. And during the heat of battle, it's very hard to input it correctly without screwing it up. But she also has her Low Boomerang at Down, Forward, 3. It may also be the fact that I use a Xbox controller, rather than blow my money on a fight stick.

I can't be the only ones experiencing these problems. Has anyone also experienced these problems? I don't want to give up on Jade. I wish NRS would patch it so that the input for her Shadow Flash was Down, Back, 3. Either that, or make the input requirement more lenient.

Yea i have definitely had boomerangs come out instead of shadow kicks

Your not the only one

but may i suggest getting a stick... I was using a hori d-pad and it was horrible trying to play jade with it..

i made a switch back to my good ole madcatz se stick

lets just say, it's day and night for me

I saw the title and thought 'what the hell did I do now?' :/

I have the same problem and it is a bit frustrating....Usually, I get a boomerang instead.

Well I have a Razer Onza TE and the d-pad on there is pretty nice but after awhile the buttons stick. It's also priced at about the price of a wireless 360 controller and has a lot of extra features compared to the stock one. It's also lighter.

I don't think this is an NRS issue actually - I think it's a d-pad issue. I have a PS3 and it happens to me too. It happens less than it used to now that I've learned how to "sweet talk" the d-pad a little better but I agree that it's exceptionally annoying when it happens. I've also played on a 360 which is definitely worse than the PS3. The problem with both of them (and especially the 360) is that the dpad is all one rotating piece so that unless you just tap (not roll) at exactly the right place on the d-pad a down or up might be registered instead.

If you go to practice mode and just do back/forward a million times you'll notice that it'll occasionally register as back, down, forward or back, up, forward. Even with the PS3 d-pad if I tap on the bottom portion of the back button a bunch of times in training mode, it will occasionally register a down mixed in with the backs...and I'm not even rolling forward to do back/forward - I'm just tapping back. But if you don't center it exactly in the middle of the button it WILL occasionally register the wrong input.

X-Box makes a controller where the D-Pad can be rotated into a different position so that it only registers up/down, and left/right. At least I think that's what it does...I've never actually used it. I think the best solution would be a d-pad that just used discrete buttons for back, forward, up, and down. Then there would be NO issue.

The problem is that it's practically impossible to input directions EXACTLY on the D-pad during the heat of battle, especially with a rusher character like Jade. It would make things so much easier if they changed the input to be Down, Back, 3.

Sometimes it happens to me. Not always. And another problem with her is that her animation is sometimes too slow still.

My consistency with any of the back, forward moves (with any character) isn't 100% due to the d-pad being one piece rather than discrete directional buttons. When I play Johnny Cage or Subzero sometimes I'll jump back or crouch instead of doing the shadow kick or slide. It doesn't happen as much as it used to now that I've learned to finesse the tap-tap a little better, but by this point it shouldn't be happening at all. When it does happen and I lose a match because of it, it's one of those "I want to smash my f***ing controller" moments. I really feel for 360 users though. It's hard enough on a PS3, but that stock 360 controller totally blows for this game.

It annoys me so much that I bought an arcade stick from Amazon to see if it would fix the problem. I'm still waiting for it to get here though. I hope it's worth the $130 I paid for it.

I use the stock 360 controller Dpad just fine with no errors. People just suck at being precise with their movements.

I'm not being a smart ass, but are some of you "mashing" the buttons?

Say you're trying to go from 3 into a shadow kick and a boomerang comes out instead, if you're mashing 3 and inputing, it doesnt matter if you press 4 at the end, the button input has already been selected.

That's what I like about the combo system in the game, it's not masher friendly at all.

I can never remember the shadow flash input anyway. Back in MK2 you couldn't hit her with any projectiles, but that would be crazy cheap online and in vs.

The last time I played Jade, I had trouble doing the invincibility too. I swear I was trying to do it at least 5 times or more (in a row) and finally gave up.
I blame it on the controller. The ergonomics of the 360 controllers are horrendous to say the least.

360 controllers are total garbage for fighting games. If a fight stick is too much invest in a Madcatz fightpad. I have one and its awesome!
