Is everyone getting this, or is it just my character?

Shang Tsung isn't OP but he's pretty damn powerful. He has frametraps that are incredibly difficult to deal with in this game. I should know: I fought DetroitBalln (although it was online)
His only weakness really are that he has no good way with dealing with pressure at all other than counter poking and you have no fear of knocking down Shang since he has no viable wakeup option with the exception of EX soulsteal

Another weird thing happened to me today.
I faced my friend on mortal kombat, a really decent Sub Zero player.
I felt confident enough, so I played my Shang. I lost badly.
I played my second best against him, Kano, Lost badly.
I played all the characters I know and still lost, fair game yeah? But then I went ''Meh fort a laugh, Ill play Sheeva, my worst''
I won really well :3 we both had a good laugh. I played again and still won. It was weird as hell.
Has anyone else had a similar experience where you play a character you have never played before and find out your pretty good at them

It could have been more of a situation where the unfamiliarity of the character to him worked in your favor. Not knocking your skills, just saying, it might have been more of just unfamiliarity. Could have canceled out though since it sounds like you didn't know Sheeva either.

Well "never" didn't fit for, but i lost with my best men Stryker, Mileena, Kabal, Ermac and Reptile against my best friend, he played Quan Chi. Then i took Noob Saibot (i played with him one time for his alt. costume and another 2 times in the ladder for fun). I made him my ***** with Saibot, after that day i dropped Reptile (and a little bit Mileena) completly and since this day Noob Saibot belongs to my best.

I think I played Sheeva once just to learn her special moves for Shang Tsung
Its not normal to like Sheeva. I'm surprised I havent been sent to the booby hatch yet >.<
Sheeva rules, dude. She's ruled since MK3.

There are certain characters people HATE losing to.
From personal experience, people HATE losing to my Sindel or Sheeva. I expect scrubs hate losing to Noob Saibot players as well.
I admit I used to get a bit salty when I lost to a Raiden player that just did "teleport, throw/combo/torpedo" but since i've figured out how to beat that, people RAGE MORE when their no skill Raiden somehow LOSES!

Sheeva needs that damage. Her specials are quite slow.
^^This is so true. Welcome to the MK9 community where in online matches it is better to flame your opponents when you lose instead of heading to forums like TRMK/TYM or back to practice to figure out why you lost
I've been called a spammer many times: block spammer, combo spammer, juggle spammer, Kano upball spammer (even when I only use it in combos/anti-air during the match), etc
I just reply with a LOL and move on when I get a hate msg, if they send more put em on ignore
I received a msg once that jumping back to use an overhead punch -> combo on Raiden's teleport needs to be nerfed and he reported me to PSN for cheating

Wow, people are really bithces about losing today. I understand being frustrated, but no need to report/send hatemail.
Like one time I did a bomb trap with Cyrax, I made it up myself. It can be very easily blocked if my oppenent gets up and does nothing or blocks. Well I caught my oppenent in it a few times and he sent me some hate mail and at the end of the messages he says "Oh, get reported for cheating *****"
People now a days.
