How many stage fatalities/fatalities?

This would personally be the single most disappointing thing in the entire game if there are only 7 or 8 stage fatalities. The NRS team has said on a number of times that most (if not all stages) had at least one stage fatality. They Boon even went as far to say that the team designed certain stages around stage fatalities. I'm really not one to complain but this is one of those things I was looking forward to the most. Flesh Pits, Goro's Lair, etc should all have fatalities. If not now I would hope at least as DLC.

the Coalesced.ini is just a global config file nothing more or less. I have marked the word "ArenaSelect" bold because this line is the key. It is just a configuration for the arena select menu and the HasStageFatality=BGND_X lines, where BGND could be an abbreviation of "background", and X means the respective arena name, are just mapping the red skulls to arenas you want to select. These lines do not disprove the existence of hidden stage fatalities.

core317 has shown us excerpts of the respective compiled arena files, where stage fatalities are mentioned, and this proves their existence, it is just unknown if they are still accessible or a relic of old days. Unfortunately it is a compiled file and impossible to read. However, important lines are there. We just do not know the prerequisites to perform a fatality in these stages.

Nevertheless, the game is not officially out yet. But remember the dead pool fatality from Mortal Kombat 2 which was triggered by a special button combination.

When my copies arrive, I will also try to uncover the secrets. Let the hunt begin!

Assuming all the stage fatalities are uncovered at this time its a pitty the bell tower doesn't have one, it was my favorite one from mk3. Its way more than we had in mk 1 2 and 3. So I for one am happy. It would be awesome to be able to download the Bell tower stage fatality later on though. :)

I don't expect there to be more stage fatalities, but it would be extremely awesome if there were. Only time will tell...

@MKIfan thanks for chiming in. i think people are assuming that i'm giving concrete evidence and trying to prove they exist. all i'm doing is copying and pasting interesting things i see in the code. who knows if they exist but i think it's fun and gives us something to look for. this is my first time trying to sift thru code, hopefully you've done this before and will have better luck than me. there's an interesting file right above the MILEENA UNLOCK file called UNLOCK. it appears to be code for a different secret. another interesting thing is there's code for baby_scorp in the krypt file. AGAIN I'M NOT SAYING ANYTHING IS CONCRETE, just looking thru the code

Mk has always been about secrets and easter eggs. Maybe, hopefully, there will be a title update Monday at midnight that would unlock a lot of stuff. They just don't want everybody spoiling the game before its even fully released. That's probably why they patched up the Toasty Fatality fairly quickly and most people are having problems with it. That's what I hope at least.

Interesting yes an update would do it, I figured that the first update would be a big one because they said they were still doing stuff with it right up until release pretty much, balancing and know exploits / infinates whats to say there is not other stuff that had problems i.e. bell tower stage fatality? Would be just like the Living forest fatality from the Demo?

I think that the dead pool has 2 stage fatalities remember when they were talking about rumours in old MK arcade games and making them true... The reason being the myth about being able to uppercut your opponent onto one of the hooks in the Deadpool and be lowered down into the acid.... I think thats in just like the trees in the living forest fatality was orginally a rumour

Well that would be really nice and Kratos's stage showed us the possibilities of different multiple stage fatalities in one stage. In my humble opinion, there are more stage fatalities. The code proves the possibility of their existence and NRS is not stupid enough to show us ALL stage fatalities in the demo (game itself and kombat continues trailer).

@core317: no problem at all. The problem is we only have access to the compiled code and not to the source at the moment. Moreover, writing a decompiler by reverse engineering is an infinite pain in the ass as far as I know. Unfortunately, I can only code and I am not able to build a compiler/decompiler. However, maybe a decompiler will be available a year after the release. Then we can definitely prove and disprove the existence or if we perform them before the release of a decompiler made by some hardcore fans who know how to do it. As for now, we can only prove and disprove the POSSIBILITY of the existence of stage fatalities.

Btw. Which stage files did you already checked?

In addition, NRS wanted to recreate the feeling of discovering secrets like in the golden age of gaming. Maybe they build some blockades and are going to release them by updates, as they wanted to provide updates regularly. Again, this is just guessing because we are not able to look into the source code for now :(

Nevertheless somehow, I am happy to relive the old feelings of trying to discover secrets :)

Comes out tommorrow on the 19th its, seen it two days ago

still couple of days are left for the launch of Mortal Kombat, but even before the official release of the game NetherRealm Studios has published a patch 1.01 for their fighting game title. The size of the patch is 40MB, and it will download automatically once player start the game first time. No details has been revealed what exactly this first patch for the game does. Mortal Kombat is schedule to launch on April 19 in North America and on April 21 in Europe. So stay tuned for more update on this.

I asked some dude about arenas who has the game if there were any in game that were not yet confirmed and he claims that there are quite a few and he said that it would be strange if they were not meant to be unlockable at some point... I don't want to ruin the story for myself but can anyone confirm this as a yes or no to more arenas in game than the demo leak pictures?

Copy of the PM with Andre Delaney who has the game...

Hi Mate,

Sorry i am only seeing your PM now.

Does the Game have an Opening Cinematic? (not storymode)

No, sorry mate. The Story Mode has a great opening, cinematic and loads of cinematics throughout it, but nothing on the ladder etc.

Have any Sound effects changed from previous media releases or demo i.e. uppercut impact sounds?

Not that I can tell, even the fatality music that a lot of people hated remains, but it doesnt bother me.

What arenas have a red skull beside them telling you there is a stage fatality?

Sorry im in work now but can get back to you on this one, but from recollection, at least 60% have red skulls, i can name them later for you.

have you seen any other arenas not officially confirmed?

Yeah tons mate in story mode which i assume are unlockable, would be a waste of time if they created them without unlocking. Do you want me to spoil them or do you want to be suprised?

Is the music audiable now or do you have to turn the sound effects down?

its a little louder than the demo if you put the sound right up in the options, but not as loud as previous titles, best bet is to lower sound effects down. But you can still clearly hear the music either way so dont worry.

In the courtyard arena do the monk audience make any sounds?

Yes, the background characters do sometimes make noises or follow you during your battle. You will notice this very very early on in story mode.

Is the Game music Good and are there any Tracks you really like?

Yeah the game music is fantastic, back to the 2d quality, real mk feel to it, I love the bell tower music and the pit. Ive also noticed on the PIT during story mode, its switches from night time, to day time depending on the fight and where in the story you are. Its really cool, as when its day, the fighters in the background are replaced etc, the backgrounds arent static, the change sometimes.

I've been doing this for two days now. Join in. Remember 'if we Tweet it, It will happen." Hans Lo

KEEP IT UP PLEASE RONNY!!

And in my opinion the game should have the full cinematic trailer and shadows trailer just like a cabinet would have to draw you in thats insane that a Fighting game has no cinematic lure like when you would walk past it in an arcade WTF are NRS Thinking? They spend all this money producing this stuff and it does'nt even make it into game?

I don't like telling my mother how to suck eggs but like this:

Cinematic > Menu > Demo Fight > Leaderboards> Menu> Shadows > Demo Fight > Leaderboards > Menu > LOOP

My god this makes my head hurt so bad....

So I just found this comment from the link listed above.

"So, I am about to drop some knowledge here. In the game files, each fatality is roughly 1MB. fixing two infinite glitches is just a couple of lines of code each, which wouldn't even really make 2 whole MB. So someone needs to explain to me how 1 MB plus AT MOST 2 MB equals 40. This thing is bigger then most are giving it credit for."

It seems like 40MB would be enough for each character to have an additional stage or other type of ality added to into the game as well as have been a way for NRS to save some secrets until closer to release know that early copies would undoubtedly turn up.

Any thoughts?
