All right, normaly the Eurovision Song Contest is something I could care less about.
But when Finland sends a theatrical powermetal band named Lordi to the contest... wich actually wins the damn thing... then I'm interested.

Lordi stepped on stage and blasted away the other contestants with their song "Hard Rock Hallelujah."

So congrats to the conquerers, and here's a link in wich you can view their performance.

(OK, they may seem like another GWAR like band, but when a rockband wins a popcontest, that's something all right.)

And here are the lyrics.

LORDI - HARD ROCK HALLELUJAH

The Saints are crippled, on this Sinner's Night.
Lost are The Lambs with no guiding light.
The walls come down like Thunder, The Rocks about To Roll.
It's The Arockalypse, now bare your soul.

All we need is Lightning, with Power and Might.
Striking down The Prophets of False.
As The Moon is rising, give us The Sign.
Now let us rise up in awe.

Rock 'n Roll Angels bring that Hard Rock Hallelujah.
Demons and Angels all in one have arrived.
Rock 'n Roll Angels bring that Hard Rock Hallelujah.
In God's Creation Supernatural High.

The True Believers, thou shall be saved.
Brothers and Sisters, keep strong in the faith.
On The Day of Rockening, it's who dares, wins.
You will see The Jokers soon'll be The New Kings.

Wings on my back, I got horns on my head.
My fangs are sharp and my eyes are red.
Not quite an Angel or The One That Fell.
Now choose to join us or go straight to Hell.

Hard Rock Hallelujah!!
Hard Rock Hallelujah!!
Hard Rock Hallelujah!!
Hard Rock Hallelujah!!

Rock 'n Roll Angels bring that Hard Rock Hallelujah.
Demons and Angels all in one have arrived.
Rock 'n Roll Angels bring that Hard Rock Hallelujah.
In God's Creation Supernatural High.

Hard Rock Hallelujah!!

That's a Hell Yeah to that one.
I'm also getting The Arockalypse pretty soon.
You know, it truly is cool to see how all these pop acts got beaten to it by a Powermetalband. But I also think that the act itself (as well as the controversy) contributed in their well-deserved victory.

Rock On !!

the Finns are Gods!!!

not too much into their sound but they certainly deserved to win the damn thing with what kinda show they put on.
I've heard some of their stuff not too long ago I beleive but I never knew they dressed up like that.
so they aren't the best Power Metal band in the world (that's a tough thing to be with Bands like Dragonforce,Sonata Arctica,Stratovarious, and Symphony X)

and to Masta-Dante:

true Metal has always been there, just getting back into the spotlight.

Sadly, we have the same problem in The Netherlands.
At the moment, it's either pop Dutch or R&B that's all over the charts.
The problem is that Metal is simply to obscure to ever reach mainstream here, and what little Metal does reach minastream attention does have some Pop influences into their sound. (Within Temptation who I refuse to acknowledge as a Gothic band.)

While bands like Disturbed are marketed in the US, they'll never receive that attention over here in The Netherlands, wich is a sad thing.

Wich is all the more reason why I'm more than happy that Finland's Lordi prevailed in a contest that is overrun with pop, folk, shlager or gay bands.

So once again...

Hard... Rock... Hallelujah !!

Haha! They said Prophet! I now love them.

Seriously, judging from the performance. They definitely deserved that.
