He's does not belong to MK and he will never belong, because he's not from MK, that's not in discussion.

Freddy and Kratos either, but they can fight, Jason in MK would look retarded.

You got a good point, probably the best arguement I have seen FOR Jason. However if we are looking into movies for guest characters I think NRS could do better than Jason.
 
I'm not a butthurt elitst like the people who dont want him just because he's a guest, I think he could actually work and fit.

but that still isnt good enough though. Yeah he can fit, but he would be such a boring ass character. He'd just be like slow baraka. thats why I am against him being in the game, not cause he's a guest, because there isnt really anything special about him.

I learned to accept the guests... but still the main reason I dont want Jason, are similar than yours, he would be boring, he wouldn't bring anything interesting...
 
and thats why freddy being in the game sorta bothers me, becuase of course there is gonna be people wanting jason just because Freddy is in.

had it been another guest, we wouldnt be in this situation where people are constanly saying that his rival should be in the game.

If they put Jason in they wow there is gonna be a lot of Freddy vs Jason battles and it's not gonna feel like MK....

And they were only rivals in one of the most retarded movies I've ever seen.

Look at the benefit to it, people love the rivalry to the point they now have the ability to have it at their fingertips. Jason is not a boring character, and hes not as slow as people think he is. People are just being silly when they say hes going to be slow, he can be as fast as NRS reimagines his character as and does anything to it. As a GUEST character he fits and could belong well, arguing hes not from MK (ahem FOX :P ) doesnt mean squat when its a thread about guest characters.
It could also bring a larger community of people to the game, give more money to NRS, and supply us for more fun for the years ahead.

I'm sure kids in the 80's had the debate over who was more badass, Freddy or Jason.

but I agree the movie sucked, and I blame it for fueling everyones obsession to want jason in too.
 
Putting Jason in the game alongside Freddy would defeat the main selling point of this particular game: for the Mortal Kombat series to make a comeback. That would be a prominent example of a franchise "selling out". People shouldn't want to buy MK9 for the sole purpose of getting Freddy and Jason to fight against each other. They should want to buy it for the MK characters. Freddy and Jason should just get their own game to fight in, but WB knows that their own game would be a shitty game, let alone as good as MK9, so they/NRS put Freddy in this game.


MK has already proven itself as a franchise that can stand on its own and sell well without guest characters, so 1 on-disc, platform-exclusive guest character along with a DLC guest character wouldn't really hurt at all. But I hope NRS realizes that Kratos/Freddy should be where the guest character phase stops for this game. I don't want MK to become another SC, and neither should NRS.

Guys I think Nightmare from Soul Calibur would be a pretty badass guest, although I really would much prefer more MK characters, *cough* Chameleon *cough*

if they arent buying MK for MK, maybe them buying it for Freddy vs Jason will open them up to the world of MK and they will settle on old characters and have fun...anything is possible
 
I personally hope they do not stop DLC after Freddy. I think he looks great.

If they were to continue DLC, I'd include stage and fatality packs, though it would take a while. Examples for Freddy being 1428 Elm Stage and The Puppet String death as a fatality. And just more characters in the same formula, new, two return, and guest and packs like I said. That would be awesome. I wish they would include a Robert Englund skin for Freddy. What you guys think?

I agree but this kind of stuff does happen. Guest characters, especially in fighting games, do help sell. I know a few people who were gonna get Smash Bros. Brawl simply because of Snake and Sonic, and personally, as a kid, I only got Soul Calibur 2 because of Link (admittedly, I played about 5 awesome minutes of SC1 on the Dreamcast, but of course, that system disappeared before my eyes). Anyways,
there are a lot of horror fans out there who would love to see Freddy in fighting game form (in a game that doesn't suck). Mortal Kombat 2011 is already a gory fighting game with fun gameplay (which acts as a supplement to the idea of Freddy in MK, instead of it being vice versa). From a business standpoint, NRS definitely made a great decision making Freddy a DLC character.
