Green Lantern in MK9?

Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaake.

Look at the character screen, his icon is a different art style than the rest of the characters. His Figure looks poorly cropped from MKvsDC.

Green Lantern is cool and all...but wtf.

Even if this is fake, that looks so real that its scaring me a little.
Green Lantern? Are you serious... it just can't be.

I know WB owns the rights to Green Lantern but I don't think they'd do this. Maybe to plug the Green Lantern movie? I just highly highly doubt it. It's ridiculous. The Green Lantern model looks practically identical to the MK vs DC model, but in that pic on the select screen his face is in the same position as it should be....

someone please confirm/deconfirm this nonsense asap.

Just looked more into it and the guy keeps saying that it's from the developers blog to people who are saying its fake.

All his other videos on his channel imply that he isn't some crazy computer wiz that could be capable of faking this....

Is this real.... omg is this real O_O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks fishy.

If the first player select border is blinking, why isn't the second player select border blinking?

Heh, it could be fake. I mean all you'd have to do is use the DC shot. Line it up right. Make an animation of the flashing selector. Shuffle some layers with a loading effect in between and you've got yourself a plausible select screen. Shoot it full screen with your phone and you have instant controversy. For me personally it would be matching that font that would be the problem. I also probably would have moved it around to some more characters.. which could be an indication of fakery since Scorpions select screen image is widely available. If it is fake they did a fairly decent job assuming the second character cursor doesn't blink after selection is made.

If it somehow turns out to be true then WOW.. Kratos all the sudden looks amazing.

EDIT: Looking closely, that selection icon of the Green Lantern really doesn't hold up well under scrutiny.. then again none of them look that great to begin with.

Because he chose his character already. He locked in his decision, they were just waiting for the other player to pick his character.

EDIT: Fubio your new sig is the most hilarious sig I've honestly ever seen on this site lol

If that's correct, then I don't know what to think.

I thought Boon confirmed that there were no exclusive characters for X360 though?

He kept saying it was a "new mode" but I think it might of been a coverup for this maybe?....

Look how it even has xbox buttons on the bottom, this is clearly the xbox version.

Suddenly Kratos is an amazing choice for MK9. That looks so real I've seriously almost accepted this.
All I got to say is, if this is true, which version will be the standard for tournament play? PS3 has Kratos and Xbox would have this guy... It better be PS3

I pray to GOD it's fake. Green Lantern makes NO god damn sense as an MK character, it would be simply awful.

Looks EXTREMELY fake, though, as if you look at 0:00-0:01 you can see the character select border and character select picture just flash into existence, they don't move from anywhere. Looks fake as hell.

This is actually in my opinion an indication that this IS real. It could be some kind of latent loading effect present in this build of the game. If someone were to fake it and spend so much time blending the images together to make it look plausible, why would they bother creating a loading effect that people would immediately question? It doesn't make sense to do that because the creator would have had to create those frames from layers in a program like photoshop if they faked it and that's really odd to want to simulate that. If you were creating a fake of this quality, why wouldn't you weed out imperfections like that?

PS3 has always been the choice for tournaments when it comes to fighters.

Wish more people were on at this time. I still honestly think it's real. I can't even picture how he'd be in this game.

Is this a continuation of an April Fool's prank? That's my best bet right now.

Here's the following reasons it's clearly fake, as I posted in the other thread.

Pause the video RIGHT AT THE BEGINNING. What do you see?

A) The Green Lantern picture is NOT flashing into existence from another character's picture and name, but rather a blank background. If you watch another MK9 video, you'll see this is not how it works; the name/image flash in over the previous character's, which are still visible up until they are replaced by the new character.

B) The Green Lantern picture flashes in in 3 steps (head, torso, lower torso), which is not consistent with the normal select flash; look at any video of MK9 (Sub Zero vs Shang Tsung leak for example) to see the difference. Those characters' images all flash in as a coherent whole.

C) THERE IS NO PLAYER ONE SELECT BOX!

D) THE GREEN LANTERN PLAYER SELECT BOX FLASHES THE ICON GREY WHEN IT APPEARS!

After checking the Shang Tsung vs Sub Zero fight again, I see what your saying, after he selects SubZero the guy's box totally disappears, it doesn't linger like in this video. Could just be because it's Xbox but idk.

I'm going to stay optimistic but hesitant until this boils over.

This should clarify any doubts anyone has.

Lantern's image doesn't even fade-flash into existence like everyone else's, it just goes from white to there. Painfully faked.

I see what you're saying, and I'm not saying 100% that it's real but let's imagine for a second that the assumption that the DLC boxes will rotate is true and he just hit the thumbstick or d-pad left. Isn't it fair to say that the game may load DLC or other characters in that spot individually from the disk or hard drive and so therefore they might not be in the initial cache and there might be a delay? That could easily explain the grey box, the lack of selector and the pop in.

Also, as I've said before without making this a giant frame by frame analysis, whoever did it, did a really good job on the small scale intricacies especially on the second selection of Lantern later in the clip, so who in their right mind would do that so well but then screw up so horridly at the first fraction of a second, that doesn't add up. No one that good is simulataneously that terrible at the same time. Still, even if it's fake, it's an awesome late April fools joke.

@Fubi-It's not possible that GL would be selected differently, because anything people have right now is on-disc same as all the other characters; there's no DLC yet and that's not something that can really leak since it's via digital distribution.

Furthermore, why the heck would the selector disappear? And why would the artwork load differently? And why would the previous character not still be displayed until the new character popped up? And why would the grey box even be there; if it was official it certainly wouldn't look so ugly.

Whatever's there would be loading in the same way as all the other characters, off of the disc, which is to say not as it does in that video.

Simplest explanation is the best explanation, and the simplest one is that it was faked.
