Goro will defeat Liu Kang

It doesn't have to be the good guys that win to advance the story... but I'm not saying Earth Realm has to be completely crushed either.

I'd be happy to see an anti-hero win the tournament. Not necessarily good or bad, but unpredictable; leave an element of mystery for the ending. It's probably why I never particularly liked Liu Kang as the champion, because his motives and personality were obvious. I don't feel like there was enough depth to his character. Although, I wouldn't mind a somewhat corrupted Liu Kang, and it'd be interesting to see him change from what we've known, due to the trauma of being defeated by Goro and the hardships of his ascension afterwards. They could change Liu Kang's only motive to save Earth Realm, to one that includes hatred and selfishness. We should never see those traits fully realized, and it should place his character somewhere between hero and villain. I'd find it intriguing, at least.

Also, one final thing on Motaro that I'd like to add:
I would also think the new play mechanics (each button represent left/ right punching and kicking might also be a problem with four legs and his infamous back-legged kick in MK3).

While the new play mechanics would be problematic for him, it would only be the case if he was a playable character. I think that as long as they keep him unplayable, they can whatever they want with him. This actually applies to all boss battles; there could be special sequences involved, camera zoom in/out etc. I think such details would add to the exclusivity of the bosses and make the battles more climactic.

I'm sure Kang will win Mortal Kombat regardless of our opinions on who should win (the invasion being another question since that does not determine the new champion); but putting that aside... Anti-Heroes are too popular these days. I think it's a beautiful storyline to have a tragic hero who struggles to maintain his spiritual discipline but ultimately wins the fight against himself in the end and stays true to his principles. It may be overdone as well, but I think it's only fair since we haven't actually seen the TRUE story of his ascension to champion.

A lot of people don't know this, but Liu Kang did not kill his opponents in MK1 and 2. (Or at least it might have been originally intended that he killed them quickly and with honor instead of brutally mutilating them.) Such small, subtle details like that are amazing for portraying a character that people don't seem to appreciate from my perspective.

I guess I have nothing else to say about Motaro. I'm not entirely convinced he can be built into the game, but it's not like it's something I'll be terribly disturbed by or anything either way. If he is made into a boss, I'll be looking forward to his magical, cloaking teleport move and NOT that annoying, triple chi blast attack from his tail..

Are you really sure? Have you considered the numerous statements by Ed Boon and Hector Sanchez that indicate the possibility of Liu Kang's "victory" in Mortal Kombat being "changed around"?

Didn't they say that the bosses weren't gonna be playable already?
