Goro and Release date revealed.

The problem with that, there hasn't been an MK tournament since MKII.
Most of the fighters you see after that, are either fighting for survival (Like Stryker) or are fighting under orders (Sheeva). It isn't the "best of the best" anymore in terms of martial arts, it's everybody under the sun and NRS tries to reflect that.

Kickinwing420: Probably because he likes it? So what? It's an opinion and I can see his point. The new characters are unlike anything we've ever seen in MK and if NRS want to go this route they should be able to properly explain their choices and be able to defend them. Some people find the new characters "off", I partially feel that way about Ferra/Torr and D'Vorah, and I don't blame him. As for Goro, he's big and famous. Some people don't like the idea he's playable, I for sure don't, and some are worried he'll be slow and clumsy. Even that I can understand.

Does he?
I swear I see this dude complain about MK all the time.

I don't know though.
Maybe I have him confused with somebody else.

Still, I don't see how the characters are "unlike anything we've ever seen in MK".
D'vorah fits right in with characters like Reptile.

If you don't give new characters the chance to enter the MK world, they won't feel like they fit to you. I, personally, gave them the chance and accept all of the new characters fully.

You know, people probably thought what you thought about "new" characters like Tanya or Shinnok when they joined MK4. Same with Kenshi in DA. You have to give them a chance.

It's not like MK is the first game where boss and sub-boss characters became playable. And just because a character is big means they have to be slow? Have you watched Ferra/Torr play at all?

I assume he does.

I don't know if you see it or not, some people do, but those 4 new characters really are unlike anything MK had so far. Up till now most of the characters were pretty much copies of each other - ninjas, robots, sluts or "other"... NRS have gone out their way this time and introduced someone different. An Aztec God? The closest thing MK has to him is Nightwolf... But Nightwolf looks normal and is to most just a regular dude. Kotal is so much more. D'Vorah? The closest thing MK has to her is Reptile... true... but Reptile is sometimes human, sometimes not... and well... his name pretty much gives it away. D'Vorah on the other hand is a full blown insect with a hive mind. They make of her body more use than they ever have with Reptile's. Ferra/Torr? The closest thing MK has to them... well... Kintaro and Goro you could say. But the only similarity here is the size. Other than that... it's basically 2 characters in one... both somewhat independent despite the other being in control. We never had anything like this... unless you count characters riding animals... the closest would probably be, not counting size, Noob-Smoke. That partnership could come close. And Cassie? She's a daughter of two major characters. Do we have families in MK? We sure do, but... this kind of relationship was never really exposed and promoted in such a way as with Cassie... plus can you really count Kitana or Mileena? They're not really daughters in the traditional sense...

So if you really look at it... The new characters ARE completely different and uncharted territory for the team, as well as for us.

Oh don't get me wrong. I want new characters. And I agree that MK at this point really needs them. The only thing I'm not sure about is how many. I honestly think that introducing more than 10 won't end up well. I think 8 would be ideal.

Well, I did give them a chance, because at the beginning I was completely against the idea and now, seeing as the team is actively working on them, I am kind of curious what will they show us next.

The thing is, it seems the team is not comfortable with them themselves. If they were they'd show us a new one by now. Instead all we got after 3 months are returning characters. Which I find odd, because it contradicts with all the statements. They want as much new content as possible, the highest number of new characters ever, but all we're getting are classics. You have to ask yourself... Why? There are at least 4-8 new characters to be revealed. Where are they?

And yeah, you're right. When they introduced Tanya in MK4, I hated her. She got on my nerves a lot back then. Same with Jarek. And later Kenshi. Never liked the three. Other new characters, like Shinnok, Quan Chi, Frost, Nitara, Havik, Hotaru... I liked a lot.

Because classic kombatants build more hype than the new ones. Easily 50% of the people that are excited are new to the saga, and the only game they've played is MK9, and probably MK2. So to them, almost everything is new, and seeing familiar faces like Raiden or Kano excites them more, 'cause they're learning to love what we have been loving for twenty years. In my opinion, the perspective of "all new" of MKX is made for us, the long-way fans, 'cause only we are complaining about how sick are we of the old characters, who much we want new things. But for marketing, NRS won't consider us, the long-way fans, because we'll buy the game yes or yes, and the other ones, the new fans are the one who needs to be convinced to buy the game, thus, they show long time known characters.

I still don't see how they are "completely different".
They're not clones by any means, but their not completely uncharted territory.

Sure, Kotal Kahn's an Aztec god, and that is different. But he's still a god.
IMO "uncharted territory" would be something like an alien character.
Aliens have nothing to do with Mortal Kombat right now. So that would be completely new.
Gods have a heavy influence in MK, so it's not really that different.

That said, I really do like the new characters.
So far, I think they're really awesome additions.

I'm excited to play as Goro I really hope that he comes with a pre order Arena. I think that there will be at least 6 DLC character and hopefully classic stage DLC

People are going to hate new characters.

Some people think El Fuerte is a great, light hearted addition to the Street Fighter universe. Others think he's an unfunny shithead. Can't please everybody

El Fuerte?
That guy is a masterpiece compared to Rufus.
I cringe to that bastard.

imo an MK tornament is no place for big fat slow people that dont even look like trained fighters that would enter a fighting tournament so ferra torr needs the boot straight away and when it comes to having monsters in the game goro is just too much as a playable and should stick to being a boss. they may as well make the tormentor beast from mk9 playable at this rate :/ , if you want monsters as playable characters then fighters like baraka are a perfect example of how its done.

I gotta disagree with this, if you look at Goro he doesn't have an ounce of fat on him, he's like a body builders dream only with...more arms and weird ninja turtle hands and feet. Big/overly muscular =/= fat, and fighters come in all sizes..this isn't MMA, it's a brutal fight to the death with no rules, can't have match ups based on height and weight.

Why would Torr need to be a trained fighter anyway? Does a Grizzly Bear need training to knock your head off?
He's a huge dude that hits hard, perfect for a fighting game.

perfect for street fighter or tekken. or stick a huge axe in his hand and perfect for soul calibur. i just dont think that character fits MK at all. none of the new characters do they look like they were designed for a different game. im all up for new characters but the designers are thinking gimik first then trying to make it fit MK later. i want to see them design some genuine cool looking characters that look like they know how to fight and dont look shitty. ferra torr looks like a tramp with a bag on his head. dvorah looks like an mmo background character. cassie looks awful and boring. the only good looking one so far is Kotal but his tatts look like the stickers you get with a kinder egg toy. so far the new characters are far from impressive

So what fits in Mortal Kombat? I'm tired of seeing people say that the new characters don't fit. It doesn't make any sense to me. Should everybody just be a ninja?

I fail to see how a barbarian brute, a reclusive insect queen and an Aztec god don't fit in a fantasy fighting tournament that contains multiple realms and dimensions. Jesus Christ the series has cyborgs, four armed tiger monsters, cops, princesses, mutants, zombies, demons and gods. The game has pretty open standards for what it considers acceptable.

If you feel that way then MKX is simply not for you. I like the new direction NRS took with this installment, I didn't use to play as Kano and Raiden but I would like to try them both and although I'm not a fan of Cassie yet she fits into the picture. Ferra/Torr is an absolute hit for me, I can't wait to give him/her a try, Kotal is the same story and there's potential in D'vorah. So it's 3 out of 4 for me. Goro is also a good idea for a bonus character. So it's 8 out of 9 that I like. And the majority of the fans feel the same way. So if you're in the minority it's not NRS' fault.

Diversity and newcomers are much needed in the series this time.

no the characters just need to have a cool iconic design. look at Baraka for example hes not a ninja but man is that one badass iconic looking character. the only new character that looks good so far is Kotal Kahn minus the kinder egg sticker tattoos. the rest are forgettable throw away designs that should of never been green lighted imo

D'Vorah has a pretty cool design, IMO, and she looks like she perfectly belongs in a game series full of odd creatures, beings and sorcerers.
Her stingers protrude from her body and Baraka's blades protrude from his arms, as well as D'Vorah's Fatality being pretty gruesome.

couldnt agree more but theres nothing about the new character designs or their move sets shown in the demos so far that showcase anything exiting its all just 'meh'
raidens demo on the other hand was the complete opposite and showcased great new moves and ideas. where as devorah and kotal and cassie i cant remember a single move, nothing stood out. dvorah throws some bugs along the floor thats about it like i said its just 'meh'
