Our Mortal Kombat Art Tribute which started in September 2011 was once meant to be about only 80 fan arts by 80 artists but we expanded the project in summer 2012 with the big target to cover all the different designs of the MK characters as well.

Now this project is almost done with only 3 designs currently not submitted yet.

However, almost 300! illustrations from Sonya Blade in her MK1 design up to her two Mk9 costumes were drawn by many of the best fan-artists you know from Mk artworks like Esau Murga, Jodie Muir and many many more

Each artwork illustrates the look, and has a gallery with screenshots and a description about all characters, at least for now up to MK4, while the galleries exist they do not all have the screenshots and descriptions yet, these take quite a time to do, but every day another one is done.

Its not that easy, alone already because it is fan art and we don't have the copyrights obviously to publish and sell this. And yes I tried to contact NRS and Warner Bros. a couple of times and well..never got a reply. =/

Most if not all of the artists involved would be super happy to see their works on paper I bet and since you are not the first one who thought about it in book form, I guess there would be a real market for this too.

You're welcome!

Like more or less everyone here in this forum I am a big Mortal Kombat fan. Play the games among other fighting games since around 1993 and got a ton of fun times with the games alone and with friends and lately sometimes online as well. Getting an "art tribute" for it together is a lot a work but also fun, and to see that fans who are gifted of the talent that they can draw or are good with 3d software or to kreate kosplays ar dedicating their time and efforts to make even awesome looking illustrations of guys like Drahmin, Khameleon, Jarek etc. was and is awesome.

I just wish this project will get some support from MK websites as well, throgh the website itself and forum posts like this one not a lot MK fans know about it. It got promoted via MK Secrets and Eventhubs back in 2012 and got a lot of positive feedback but none of the other big Mk sites like trmk or mko ever wrote about it.

Nah..it is just a ton of work, done by amazing fans :-)

The 2nd last available character was drawn today now by http://tioshard.deviantart.com/, Kai in his alternate costume from Mortal Kombat Armageddon. Now only one of the over 300! different character designs is available. Jarek from MKA..also in his alt design. Going to get this one getting claimed very soon to make the project finally komplete after almost 3 years.
