Gamestop says 11/10/2008

Gamestop's had a choke-hold on game retail around here for forever. There aren't any other options in NC, it seems.

Well I've got Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Circuit City, etc. but that doesn't solve you guys' anti-corporate stance. I've never even seen an independently owned store sell videogames.

Over here in the UK we have small chains like Playtime Multimedia (recently renamed Playtime.co.uk) and PC Part X. I've also been a customer at Gamestation since it was a small independant brand, and it's now a nationwide chain. In sores like that the staff seem genuinely more enthusiatic and knowlegeable about games as a whole, not just like in Game or EB where you just get people trying to earn an easy wage.

My local game has one guy who can talk about games... And yet he speaks like they mean nothing to him. Gamestation I have loved since a month ago I went lo oking for Space Colony after giving it away (I didn't ever think I'd have the urge to actually play that c rap). They were the only place in town that stocked it.

I just walked in and I was like "hey you wouldn't happen have Space Colony, I've looked all over town for it!"

And the guy reached under the counter and said "Yeah, as a matter of fact we do."

Score! They've only ever failed me twice: One Piece Grand Battle and OP Grand Adventure. But one was a "Virgin stores" only release... And I told you guys the story behind Grand Adventure. Yeah, these games are crap, I brought "Grand Adventure" only because "Grand Battle" was cut up junk with half the contents missing and Grand Adventure was released for bitter fans who clawed their eyes out for siding with 4Kids and their really God-awful, crappy, dub of the show.

9 times out of ten, Gamestation is a lifesaver. The 1 out of ten... Well there are some games you ust can't find. I charaity-shopped for x-Wing Vs Tie-Fighter. 50p for a crappy game... I'm glad I did charaity shop that.
