Freddy Krueger Media Overload, Ice Pack Skins and 1.04 PS3 Patch Available Now

Today there was a big media blast of new <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/mortal_kombat_9/moves/433/Freddy%20Krueger/">Freddy Krueger</a> DLC media in anticipation of his release tomorrow. First, we received his detailed render which you can see below. In the render you can clearly see what we already know that they went with the redesign of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freddy_Krueger#Appearance">Freddy from the new rebooted film series</a> where he looks like a proper burn victim.

As well as the Freddy Krueger Story trailer, there is a Freddy DLC television commercial that will beginning to air tomorrow across the US. This is the first DLC for Mortal Kombat that got a commercial and likely will provide a big push for Freddy Krueger fans knowing that he's in the game now.

Also we've received word that a new Mortal Kombat patch v1.04 is propagating to PlayStation 3 users tonight. Word is that this patch weighs in over 100 MB and makes the compatibility packs mandatory for a better online experience. Included with this is the final fourth compatibility pack which also includes <a href="http://www.trmk.org/news/24171/mk3_subzero_retro_cyber_subzero_free_dlc_skins_revealed.html">The Sub-Zero and Cyber Sub-Zero "Ice Pack" Free Skins</a>. Once we get more word on the patch and if it's making it's way to the Xbox 360 or not we'll update the story here.

As a reminder, in the United States Freddy should be available around <b>3-4am Central time on Xbox Live Arcade</b> and around <b>3-5pm Central for the PlayStation Network</b>. Be ready because... 1, 2, Freddy's Coming For You...
 
So sweet, only question... when are we 360 users getting the batch and comp. pack? also what does the patch exactly fix?
 
im still a bit underwhelmed by the choice of character. no doubt i will still purchase the cute lil guy for sake of offline multiplayer with the bros

Chill guys, not worth gettin too worked up over really is it? either way Kruegar is a bit ghey.. no matter what the console :) ha...now if it was cyber smoke, blaze,frost, kintaro or motaro..id understand the urgency.

Well, you did seem quite put together and then you go bash Freddy's inclusion. I mean, you should of got that out of your system a while back, but since you're new I can understand. I don't think the urgency is with any of those characters... except for Kintaro.... He was already announced for DLC. That was way back when Kenshi and Skarlet were first announced, even. Did everyone people pretty much just forget? Yeah they really did, but I haven't. You can even look up the magazine scan, but I can't put it up since it's not allowed.
 
i cant explain it mate, i just really dont feel comfortable with him as DLC. im too much of a purist and would love an old character to have a cool re-render of an old character eg: the way theyve gone to town on reptile. i dunno, i know its probably getting old people moaning about it... i think the main reason is tht i was under the impression kintaro WAS this coming dlc character. so when it was anounced i just felt a little deflated! ha
 
thats gay as **** i was up til 3 to 4 am but i gotta wait till the pm cause i got gay ass ps3... it might not red ring (yellow doom) as much and has blu ray but ps3 will never cater to gamers quite like xbox and ps3 users know it

ed: wait I still feel the same way about xbox being the gamer's console but is this info saying that ps3 users are getting him 12 hours sooner? why the **** didnt they say august 10th I had people over in celebration and shit and this rorshack gay ass mutha****in 2 glove wearin version of freddy dont even come out for like 8 hours... that shit is gay

another edit: it really is dumb that hes in the game, it was hard not to laugh at his vignette.... idk if they should play that on tv lol but still I want freddy! its august 9th and i already fell asleep and woke up! didnt go to the dream realm so asumed freddy would be ready for purchase dub tee ef up in this anticipation?!

I'm quite impressed with Freddy. Out of all the DLC characters I think he was the most worth it (Gameplay wise, not character wise. ANTI-FLAME SHIELD PLACED!!)
 
I, for one, welcome Freddy to Mortal Kombat 9. I guess i have some favoritism for him, i grew up watching Nightmare on Elm Street. But i kinda wanna see a future DLC for Sabrewulf or Fulgore (From Killer Instinct, if you don't know). There's some guest characters NRS should contemplate!
 
i logged in on my psn for buy freddy but he was not there! WHY? i start up MK9 and try too find Freddy there but no he was not there ether! why? i want him soo much
