First Impressions (Yours, Mine, All)

This game is awsome... I like the konquest alot... either that or i just wanna get done with it to have everyone unlocked... I have yet to play puzzle kombat or chess... gonna be online very soon, so anyone with the xbox can have an easy victory... lol

onaga is a scumbag, hateful, meanster.

I'm trying to get through konquest asap. Taking long time, but fulfilling, i guess. Don't know what to do for half the crap i'm asked to do, so i skip it. Will i be able to come back later, i don't know.

Fighting is spectacular, like you read about in the papers, serious.

Characters, only unlocked a few, are kool. Havik may not have original styles, but his weapon is fierce and the character peels out.

Arenas, wow.

online, little playing there yet, focusing on konquest asap. seems to be a sound network enironment, good.

krypt, whatever i'm working on it. slow going save slow.

chess and puzzle, not interested not tried, lame treasure boxes with puzzle and chess rewards, curses invocations!

graphics, sweet, maybe could be better (PS2)

sound, never pay much attention, seems decent, deep bassy thumping.

i hate when sub's ice clone doesn't work half the time especially in close kombat. hate the false floors that characters occasionally float on.

all in all i give something like 9/10

Yes, Konquest have crappy graphics, ugly motion, great story transformed into stupidy and unclever way to translate it, character Shujinko I must agree: lacks in personality -- All in all, Konquest is a fun to play game, and interesting: YES, you read the whole sentence right, it might seem controversial my opinion on this mode but if you haven't tryed it, that's the feeling you'll get.

Sometimes I hate how much I get to think sometimes I'm playing Deadly Alliance again, but all the tweaks and "here and there" new details makes this one different in the fighting system department.

As for the boss Onaga: why is it that the ONLY interesting and engaging final boss MK has had during these 12 years was non other than Shao Kahn? You fight a full montain of fighters from botton to top, you get to Onaga and his presentation is "Aaaaarrrggghhh!", you punch and kick him a lot (while he kicks you 3 times and you are dead) to see him burn and explode at the end... And no, he doesn't end shouting "Noooo!", he shouts again "Aaarrggghh!"... That is all, this guy has no voice, my guess would be that no purpose either: just another Moloch... Oh crap.

And why? Why? Why two pictures with some words at the botton are called "endings" again?

All in all: Arcade and specially Versus mode are really fun, really! Great character models, gorgeous looking arenas, death traps, weapons, interactivity, fatalities all accompanied with old school arenas with its original soundtracks, on that last one a word comes to me: WOW! Have you seen The Courtyard, The Portal, The Pit and The Dead Pool? Watch and hear, then know what I mean! Puzzel Kombat it's fun, Chess is very interesting and as much fun as you can get... Konquest is weak but you won't stop playing it, for whatever purpose.

If MK Deception would have got a final boss that makes you feel that you got there to beat the crap out of him for a reason, Konquest mode would have been more refined side-game, and there weren't so, so many resemblances to Deadly Alliance fighting system- I know it was good stuff and it is tweaked but annoys sometimes- cinamatic endings for every characters... MK Deception would have been a 9.5+ game for a review... So far it's only a 8.5+ game: that's final.

But the truth is: this game is excellent. Deadly Alliance was very good, but this one is way better, and in many aspecs, almost in all, this is the best and bigger Mortal Kombat to date. For this review you should have in mind I only like MK fighting games, I did not think on Tekken, Street Fighter, DOA, Virua Fighter or the likes to write this down.

Enjoy this game, it came to stay!

This is by far the best version of Mortal Kombat I've played. The progression of fighting format, to a martial arts styles kombat is fabulous. The art on the character's in fenominal, although I don't think Boon and the team should have released some of the promo art. The version of raiden looking like a rogue samurai is uber.

The only thing I totally dislikes about the mortal kombat series is the death of lui kang. *moment of silence.* What the fuck were you guys thinking? I personally have never been overly fond of the character. Since MK Sub-zero has been, shall, and forever will be my most favorite character, and rue the day you ever remove him from a single MK game. That will be the death of the mk series ( at least I think so). I pitty the fool (game designer) who kills Sub-zero. That will so be his last day(s) in promo. Since mk4 Raiden has been one of my growing favorites, and has topped with Deception. Going back to the Lui kang topic: That's like taking away the chocolate from the hot chocolate. Shame on you fools. I do hope Lui's alt costume (had put combo, lol) is his shadow form. The creative team robbed us in DA by killing him, especially the cheasy way they did it. Lui Kang has soley been the man in 4 mortal kombat tournaments. From Kano to Shao Khan he's been the hero of Earthrealm and holds a special place in every Mortal Kombat player's heart, even if he's not your "favorite" character.

I generally like the game. I mean, ever since I popped in that old Genesis Mortal Kombat game..I have never looked back. I've been through it all, all the bad and good of MK and right now it looks better than ever. The only beef I have is that they should have added Kung Lao! He is one of the best fighters out there. Hehe.

I second this.

That's why I like Shujinko this time around, because he uses the fighting styles that Kung Lao had in MKDA.

Yeah but Kung Lao was a much more bad ass looking character. I'm not a fan of the typical asian-hero characters ... but that low brim-bladed hat hanging over that guys eyes ... awesome.

Kung Lao was always better than Lui Kang and far better than Shujinko, although I don't mind Shujinko's character at all. There always has to be a older looking man with long hair involved in a fighting game...

i give the game 8.9/10 i think its a wicked game and as far as i know the only thing i dont like about this game is the endings

no doubt the best MK franchise yet!

Well. Most of you posting here now have your hands on Mortal Kombat: Deception. Some of you will love it, some will hate it, others will say "so-so". No matter how you feel on the game this thread is about your first impressions of the game.

What do you like about it? What don't you like? Feel free to list your comments and critisims about the game so far.
My first gut check was how great the arenas are the multy level jumps are great!

I also have a major issue with a few characters sharing moves. Was it so hard to make Ermac have different abilities than Kenshi or vise-versa. Yes, I know the history of both ... but you didn't see Frost having mirror moves to Sub-Zero. I'm a bit disapointed in that ... especailly since I really like Ermac but never was a big fan of Kenshi and his telekenetic moves.

Ermac has always had Telekinetic powers. Ermac was a selectable character in the game Mortal Kombat Trilogy. So he was the 1st guy to have telekenetic powers.

Yes I know. But that isn't the point. I was just using it as an example to illustrate characters sharing moves. After playing a while though, it really isn't that bad. I still have complaints about Kira though - she is a Sonya/Kano rip off with not one ounce of originality besides her bland look.

A+

I love the game. A+. Ive played it for 16 hours straight without eating. Im hooked. I just wish my Favorite Character REPTILE would be in it. And some of the stages are to easy to knock people off of. Cant wait for the next MK title. MK Live on...

Well i picked up the game over the weekend finally... got thru konquest mode, but havent really played more than a few arcade matches... which is a bit surprising since thats about all i bought the game for....lol... i havent touched the game in a couple of days, i just had oral surgery and im so messed up with the crap they gave me for pain, my coordination is hell....besides who needs to see fatalities when i have tons of blood on my pillow when i wake up from my naps now? LOL...

So far i have probably played the puzzle game the most besides the konquest mode, i kind of like it, but it is a bit annoying... as for the chess game, well i suck at it... 0-2 so far....and i havent beaten one person yet...lol... thats from my lack of playing the arcade mode... couple more days and i should be up and around enough to play that aspect... but i give the overall game about a 8.5/10... i havent tried the online yet though... and i would have given it a 9/10 if only the konqest mode didnt suck so badly.... but im happy thus far... has some cool fatalities...

Since I first set eyes on MK D on the internet, it has given me sleepless nights!! Too bad I live in Holland so I have to wait untill Nov 19th to get my copy

I played the game for the first time last night- I was not disappointed, at all.

MK Deception lived up to all the hype and then gave back so much more. The combo system was revamped a bit, and the combos on the game (or removed from the game prior) have added a nice touch in terms of balancing all the characters (the ones I've played with so far, anyway) and keeping a different strategy intact for all of them. I can say that I was not disappointed by using Nightwolf for the first time since MK3. Ditto that for Ermac, who quickly became my favorite character. No surprise there; ninjas are so easy to love on MK :)

The graphics have improved immensely, and the stage-specific 'round-only fatalities' are an excellent addition. At first I thought not killing them for both rounds and only one was a lame idea, but then I saw the novelty of the stage-fatality, which is a do-or-die area at one point without allowing a player to end the entire match all too quickly.

Very great game, and if I had the time, I would elaborate even further.

Smoke and Noob were a challenge, by the way, but I still got them on my first shot in Arcade. Damn, that concept rocks!

Play it arcade again my friend, and put the difficulty on hardest. Of course, no one wants to see you more savagely beaten than me. Have fun.

i'd have to say so far i like it... once i get better then i'll love it

the arena are great and the characters look great as well
i love the alternative puzzle and chess mode

but i wish they brought the test you might/sight and i did like the team fighting mode from mk4

but i'll live with out all that and continue having fun online.... as long as they work on the connection so i don't get booted all the time....
