Durak in MK Rebirth?

I'd personally be kind of bummed if they focus on the main MK canon. Only because I enjoy seeing how they'll be reimagined in this more noir-style Nolan/Fincher inspired take on the series. Like, it's clearly it's own thing, and obviously an alternate reality to the main story. Plus, I figure we're getting the Mortal Kombat story in a more cohesive form with the new game, which makes me happy, but I don't need to double up.

By the way, I'm curious if there's anybody else over the age of 23 on this board who wants to see more from the world of MK Rebirth.

Why over the age of 23?

Why over the age of 23?

Because people keep talking about "Old School Fans" and how we shouldn't be able to enjoy something like MK Rebirth. I really like it, but I also enjoy other similar things like Pokemon: Apokelypse and hell, I even drew my own little dark Mario comic. It's not a matter of preference or anything, and I'd never want the games to be like MK Rebirth (And if they did do a game, it'd have to be it's own completely new thing)

So I figure, I'm 25, and I think I was in the 2nd or 3rd grade (maybe even 1st, I'd have to look up the exact release year) when MK1 came out. So that's the age where it's still conceivable to me for folks to have nostalgia for the entire series. Like, those would be the 'old school fans'. (Played the game on the sly, by the way. My parents weren't okay with gore when I was that age, so I had to sneak it at a friends house.) And I'm curious to know if it's just me, or are there other older MK fans that dug Rebirth.

Because I'm always curious to see re-imaginings if there's no pretense of replacing or being like the original. It's just fun to see a new take on the stuff I love. Even better when some day the two different versions somehow collide. For example, I grew up on Ninja Turtles just like everybody else my age. Then in 2003 I think, they rebooted the series to be closer to the original comics. I never really watched the new series, but when they did Turtles Forever, which was a crossover event between the three major versions of the Ninja Turtles, it was flipping amazing, and I watched it a bunch of times. (And it got me to watch a few episodes of the newer show)

I don't expect anybody else to be on board with this idea at all, but for me personally, if MK Rebirth became it's own thing one day, that'd be the crossover game I'd hope for. Mortal Kombat vs MK Rebirth. Some sort of cross-dimensional alternate reality thing. This isn't anything I expect NRS to do of course, but it's a fun little fantasy.
