DOOM

Anyone seen the Doom movie? Its not been released over here in the UK yet but I think it maybe has been released overseas? I am a major fan of the Doom video games but I am a little unsure how the movie will go down. I see it has The Rock in it, not sure if this is a good thing or a band thing.

Games to film aren't always good. I know I never really enjoyed any of them, Take a look at Street Fighter with Van Damme, MKA, Mario Bros, Alone in the Dark, Resident Evil,....most of them where an insult to the video game imo by making them cheasier.
As for Doom, I don't have high hopes , but might be better than the ones I just mentioned. I think the Rock as a lot of potential for action movies. He has charisma.

Not all videogame movies were miserable failures. For instance, Mortal Kombat (The original, not the sequel.) was pretty damn good. And I felt that the people who did both Resident Evil movies could've done much worse. So, I'm going to reserve any judgement on Doom until I actually see it.

Wow I hope thats not how you rate all movies...

'Oh look the rock is in it, doesn't matter that the plot is bad, the effects are lame, the acting is bad and the director is nuts, the girl dies 3 times, everyone is slaughted pointlessly, so long as the rock is in it!'

Sorry, I couldn't resist. hehee... Bad Angel.

Personnelly, as I said before, the Rock being in it is the very reason why I'm not going to see it... Cause I don't like the rock. No offence to anyone who does but I think he is overated.

Dont diss the Rock, hes a pretty damn good actor...i mean hes perfect for action movies. hes big, strong, athletic, and what is professional wrestling but acting?

I really can't believe it, but I'm actually looking forward to this movie.. I'm not into horror type movies, but they might actually pull this one off. The FPS scenes are awesome and fresh..

I am not sure if the movie will be good or not. I have been leaning on both possibilites. It really isn't following the games storyline, so that upsets me, but it may just pull it off. If you think The Rock being in it is bad, don't think that. He's be acting for awhile, do to wrestling and in movies, he has been quite good I think. In Doom, he isn't the main character though. Karl Urban, who plays Reaper is. I think the Rock will die in the movie.

I just found out that Andrzej Bartkowiak is directing it. The guy that directed cradle 2 the grave (yes, with a "2" in the tittle). The little hopes I had for this movie are gone now.
Early reviews says that the FPS sequences is the best part of the movies even if they were disapointing lol!

Actually, it certainly isn't how I rate all my movies. Infact, I don't even rate them based on a 30 second trailer like most people do.

I don't like the Rock as an actor. He was good in The Rundown but in Get Smart.......he was funny as hell but I hate when he takes his WWE persona and throws it into his movies. You are Dwayne Johnson. Give up The Rock gimmick for at least one movie.

I don't like the fact that he is so skinny now either. He looks like he's sick.

Holy shit. I would rather sit through the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy (extended versions) without a bathroom-break than watch this movie again. Horrible. Very, VERY few things were based on the game, and what was, was done rather poorly.

Those who said the FPS scenes were the best were actually right. Other than that, this movie sucked more than a combination of Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, MK:SF, Stryker, batteries that die prematuraly, cancer, bullies, hair dye that doesn't take properly, and broken fingers.

so...your saying the movie is bad...lol.....but is it because of the Rock? or is it just the most horrible movie ever made on its own....plus the Rock?

This is a surprise, now that I think of it. But, this was probably the only movie starring the rock that I actually liked him in. Although he was annoying as hell, and had shitty lines, he didn't overdo it like every other movie of his.

However, it was still one of the worst movies I had ever seen. So, for once in my life, Teh Rock being in it wasn't what ruined what could've been a good movie.

Well I saw the movie yesterday when it came out. I thought it was alright. I liked it. It had a feel of Doom.

The Rock...

I don't know, it's yet to be released here, so I'm withholding judgment on the film itself. Looks like James Cameron should be annoyed, though.

I will say that I do not care at all for "The Rock." He is terrible. He is not an actor. He is not even an action-hero. He is a character, who was for some god-forsaken reason given acting roles that were to be performed as that character, and as written. ?!?!

But Dwayne Johnson? Different story altogether. His work in "Be Cool" and "Walking Tall" was incredible. I really couldn't believe this was the same clown who goofed his way through "The Scorpion King" (that film made me hurt). Both of the above-named films are fine examples of what Johnson can do, when given the opportunity. He played a small-town sherriff to great effect, and a gay bodyguard/actor which is about against-type as you can get!

If Doom is bad, it's not The Rock that will make it bad, but whatever he is given to work with will surely help make it worse.

(oh, and before anyone points it out, I do know that The Rock and Dwayne Johnson are one and the same...my point is more that The Rock is a character Johnson plays in most appearances. Poor man.)
