And they'd still do that. I am failing to see your point... Do you think in Outworld would only live Shao Kahn and Baraka-wannabes and they'd sit on a rock in their free time doing nothing at all? There are people in Outworld too... Shao Kahn's purpose is to fuse realms, so everything from Edenia for example belongs now to Outworld, including its people and their daily lives. Really...

the coliseum still felt menacing and dangerous, theres a huge tormentor monster in the background that you would not want to get near you and people throwing things at you and saho kahn sitting on a giant skull throne its pretty badass! . the market on the other hand has a few sleeping tigers that just look friendly and a crappy looking slave machine the stage is crap.

I think the Marketplace was made to look like that, to show the non-menacing side of MK. And even then, there's a giant tiger that I wouldn't want having wake up.
 
I fail to see how Outworld Marketplace does not suit the theme of Outworld. Remember MK Deception konquest mode? There are cities in Outworld in which more or less peaceful life is possible, for instance, the walled city of Lei Chen - until the overlord of the city got into a conflict with Shao Kahn, it was a peaceful city resembling the Earthrealm village.

I am really glad NRS is showing this side of the dark and evil realm we know, but at the same time, I do have a theory - I believe that Outworld got a new ruler who is not a tyrant like Shao Kahn, thus the whole realm looks less menacing.
 
The only background i'm having trouble with is "the kove" at this point i can't figure out why its there. Are they going to put some kind of outworld pirate in MKX? i dunno so far thats the only stage i kinda dislike. outworld market looks pretty awesome and the winter forest is beast, very somber, kinda morbid and desolate i love it. I wonder if we'll see the pyramid again with the outworld market it kinda looks like a pyramid culture setting, reminiscent of egypt or that Mel Gibson debacle apocalypto
 
Out of the three Stages we have seen only The Kove seems to fit Mortal Kombat.
The market place has been discussed but the Snow Forrest looks like it would be from Earthrelm. I doesn't have to have faces on the trees but it lacks the creepiness I except from Outworld stages.
 
Should MKX have the Living Forest or Goro's Lair? I believe those two share the record for most appearances. One of those two needs to stand alone with it.

No to both. We already have a forest stage, and Goro isn't relevant anymore. I do hope to see some bug lair though.
 
Do the backgrounds suck in this game? Absolutely not. I love what I've been seeing so far, and I'm anxiously awaiting to see what new arena will be revealed next.
