Countdown To Release!!!

Jade from MKT when I was new to everything, not being able to win any fight.

Kitana from MKG was when I really started to play more tactically though.

Super Nintendo MK2 as Baraka. MK1 never appealed to me for some reason so I skipped it. I later moved on to Sheeva mostly.

I know it was MKII, but I don't remember exactly. I'm about 80% sure it was Scorpion because I remember being frustrated that I couldn't get him to throw his spear.

MK triology Playstation
I was 4 or 5 years old, johnny cage. Didn't know how to do special moves but I did figure out how to do his shadow uppercut lol. Man I miss that game :( even though I always got my ass kicked. Even at that age I was really into MK and the music. Then when my dad got me another MK I went crazy lol

Omg i can't even remember... wow. It was soooo long ago.
I think that it was Sindel, after watching some ppl playing with her, she always intrigued me.

The first post has been updated with the second question! Sorry for the delay, been at a job fair earlier :)

Probably due to you playing it on a SNES.
SNES MK1 was an abomination.
MK2, within the SNES' limitations, was as good a port as it could have got.

Damn, seems not too many people who actually played Mortal Kombat in the arcades...

My first time playing the game was with a friend on the original Mortal Kombat arcade at a Peter Piper Pizza! He picked Raiden because he knew a special move with him (it was the uppercut lmao) and I chose Sub-Zero. It's hilarious to think back that we thought the uppercut was a special move at the time haha.

First Fatality was also of course, Mortal Kombat 1 arcade but which one I cannot remember. Though I do remember the moment I saw Scorpion revel his skull and burn his victim to a crisp blew my mind!

Been hooked ever since! ;)

Question 2: It was Mortal Kombat Gold with the one button fatality code. I think I either did Kitana's Fan Decapitation or that Goro's Lair Spike Fatality first (which can be done on any stage with that code).

The first fatality I actually did manually was Li Mei's MKDA fatality I believe.

I'm doing this on all the sites I visit just because it seems fun. We're gonna count down how many days until the game is released. I will also be asking questions along the way to make this thread more entertaining rather than just counting.

We have 187 Days to go!!!

First question:

Who was the first ever character you played as in this series?

Second question:

What was the game you performed your first fatality?

Hey Kitty maybe someone can make a digital timer?! So you dont have to change stuff up everyday?? I dunno who would be able to make like a simple countdown timer, anyone here??? :D

Q2: Reptile, i was munching faces for days....

Just thinking ahead.
The first fatality performed on me would've been quan chi...
it left a long impression..
having one's leg ripped off and beaten to death with it would do that to you i guess.

My first Fatality was actually Kung Lao's Tornado Fatality from MK3 on SNES. It took me about another year to learn the MK1 and MK2 Fatalities, when I found out I could get the strategy guides from those 2 games via mail order from GamePro.

Third question is up!

Ps. I've been getting some users (on all different sites) telling me I should invest in a digital countdown. While the gesture is nice, I like manually changing it. Why? Just shows more... what's the word I'm looking for... investment? I think that's what I'm looking for. Yeah.

Third question is up, go look :-P

Q3: My ranking:
1. MK2 hands down.
2. MK1 has a close second.
3. MK9
4. MK4

All the rest could as well not exist for what I care.

The 3rd question is harder for me to answer (all-time favorite MK game), given that I like certain games more than others for different reasons.

Since MKX hasn't come out yet and I can't fully judge it, my answers will reflect up to MK9.

Kombat gameplay mechanics: Tie between UMK3 and MK9.
Graphics: Tie between MKII and MK9
Music: Tie between Deadly Alliance and MKII
Favorite story: MK1

Overall, if I had to go with a favorite, it would probably still be tie between MK1, MKII and MK9.
I can't choose a favorite between those 3.

Answer to 2nd is MK4. By then I was old enough to get it.

Answer to 3rd is... well... hard to say. MK2, Trilogy, Mythologies, Deception and MK9 are imho easily the best. Hard to pick just one. This selection of 5 will have to do.

I can't remember my first character, probably Sub-Zero in MK2.
I performed my first finisher in MK2 as well.
Favorite game question is complicated really, i like MK1-UMK3, MK4/MKG, MKDA & MKD, MK9, sometimes i like the one game the most, then the other...can i just say "i like the whole series"? Cause i can't really choose an absolute winner.

P.S. Final Countdown thread is not complete without the music theme:

It's easy for me since I'm a PC gamer so I lost track of MK when it went console-only.

MK9 (MKKE for me) was a huge adrenaline rush because I felt that my gaming days were over. I used to play some MK3 on MAME but it has died down slowly. So MKKE was a dream come true. It felt as a direct continuation of the MK3 days for me, exactly as NRS intended to do. And that's why I'm so excited about MKX: I'm kinda waiting for this game since MK4. So MKKE it is for now but MKX will be the big thing.
