I always thought of Quan Chi as lanky, but he looks buff in MKX to me .
i actually like his model. Ermac is the one that gets the most negative reaction from some for his change in appearance and size.

No, it's like I'm saying "men being sexualized is an indirect byproduct of men being portrayed as fearsome warriors, which is what MK fighters should be portrayed as." Females being sexualized would not be an indirect product, because no one thinks that huge boobs help with fighting. It would be a very direct product of sexualizing the females for the sake of sexualizing the females.

It's okay for men to be sexualized (even though it may be indirect ) and have over exaggerated muscles...
It's not okay to put breast physics in a game or have a female with big "boobs" cause it's sexualizing the character...Soo all female characters should be covered up and have small tits.They should not move during battle and if they have bigger breast they still shouldn't move .If they move its unreasonable ...
If you want to complain about characters having slutty costumes I can agree with you that some of them are to out there I guess..
But if you say "omg females shouldn't have big tits or breast physics" then you just sound like a white knight and if that's your stance then that's fine.I just want to make sure I'm reading this right.

For someone so eager to cry "strawman," you're awfully quick to put words in my mouth!
I have never said that "all female characters should be covered up and have small tits and they should not move during battle." Breasts moving is not sexualizing, it's what actually happens to breasts. Every female character having DD jugs like MK9 did, however, is sexualizing, because that's not how breasts work. I don't have a problem with Mileena having impressive tracts of land. Some women should. Others shouldn't. I don't have a problem with her being less... buttoned up... than other female characters, either.
I said this before: if this game was called Breast Kompetition, you'd have a point. Only women with hugs breasts sign up for the tournament because they know they have a better chance of winning. Case closed, problem solved. But it's not called that. Breast size has NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH ANYTHING. The guys' muscles, on the other hand, ARE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THEIR CHANCES OF SUCCESS in the tournament, because muscles help you land strong punches. Does this excuse one type of fetishization over another? Yes. Is it a double standard? No.

Since Mileena is a physical clone of Kitana... her boobs would be toned down as well, to fit Kitana's.

I think it's a matter of sense.
You go to a tournament (and most time, it's not a tournament, just invasions) where you must fight with the chance you will be brutally killed.
You must gear yourself. There is no logic on the clothes used on MK9. When i say "stripper clothes", nothing against the stipper, but against the idea of someone putting female characters dressed like that in a fight to the death. For what? To make appealing of sex. BS.
I think Cassie is looking sexy. But that's only my opinion, it's not relevant to what the story is. For the game, she needs to be well sculpted.
And that's why Kitana looks so awesome. She is dressed for a fight. In a "old" way, for sure because of the Edenian/Outworld culture, and that's makes sense. The same for Cassie, who wears military suit.
Besides that, the bodies of females were unnecessary unproportional. Kitana looks like a woman, and Cassie too. They have balenced body, that's way too more realistic.
And MK9 didn't sexualized MEN, IMO. They were unproportional, steroid unnatural bodies. But nobody completed 300 challenges and got Sub-Zero naked into toilet paper.

I've said this before ..All female characters shouldn't be hyper sexualized and it seems that we are on the same page there. Jade ,Sonya and kitana shouldn't all be able to share bras and you're cool with breast physics so im pretty much done.

It really wouldn't bother me if she had enhanced breasts, to be honest. It doesn't seem like Mileena was created for the purpose of fooling people into thinking she's Kitana when she wears a blue mask, and we don't know what the usual Tarkatan woman(???) is like, and past that we don't even know if Shang Tsung was able to make his own alterations on top of that, so the only question it comes down to for me is "do impressively sized breasts fit Mileena's character?" And they could. But you won't hear me complaining if they're not.

Maybe Raiden and Shao Kahn have an ancient pact between them, that despite being enemies they both liked big boobs. Raiden used his divine powers to grant big boobs to the female warriors of Earhrealm while Shao Kahn used sorcery to boost the breast sizes in Outworld and all merged realms.

I can agree that it's weird to have all male characters be 6 feet plus and have large muscles, but I can't agree that it's equally weird. MK isn't UFC where you get fairly matched up by weight categories. If you sign up for MK and you're this tiny dude, you might still have to go up against Goro. How are you going to do that? It stands to reason that the characters who are more representative of the average fighter IRL either don't sign up for MK because they just don't have a chance, or sign up and get defeated off-screen... because they just don't have a chance.
So I will always be more OK with guys being overly-muscled in MK than girls being overly-boobed. But I like a healthy mix. Raiden and Reptile are two other male characters who I think could be slimmed down.

I can think of only instance in which a male was only kinda sorta sexualized. Reiko's sexy walk in his MK4 ending with that giant bulbous a$$ of his. And THAT was completely by accident on Midway/Netherrealm's part.
Big beefy veiny Hulk-esque men are NOT sexually appealing to most people. It's just an unrealistic portrayal of what a "skilled fighter" should look like. It's bs. lol

You're definitely right, but I think the term "oversexualized" here is being used as short-hand for "representing 18 year old boys' ideals of what men and women should look like." Women become ultra-feminine (huge breasts, high heels), men become ultra-masculine (huge muscles, lantern jaw).

How can people say MK oversexualize males? They look completely castrated in MK9 LOL just in unrealistic esteroid bodies, that are not even atractive in the slightest. The closest it has ever got to that point was the testical explosion in Cassie's X-Ray. Who would say MK men actually had genitals???

I was trying to focus on body types rather than clothing. Hilde and Rera still have idealized physiques that we see in media. Fully clothed female characters are not that unusual, but women who are not beautiful (whether purposefully or in the convential way) are harder to find.
