Light travels at around a foot every nano second. To give you an idea, a photon travels about a million times faster than a bullet. The pulse fired through a 1 foot long bottle is about a millimeter in length, and is travelling around half a mm a second in the video. This gives you an idea of how many frames are running to capture this.
Read the article. They have some computer programs running showing light illuminating a dark room containing a tomato. You can see how the tomato slowly starts to glow and irradiate.
