Basically, what is the best way to defend against crossovers? By that, I mean people who jump over you and then try to land jump punches into string combos.
Interesting advice @ slide attack. I never thought of that. I do try jumping away with varying results.
I actually haven't encountered Kung Lao that much recently (on PSN). I'm referring to players who make good use of the crossover. I once played a Smoke who absolutely pwned me with the crossover, and I just have difficulty with it in general. I was wondering if there might be counter that is universal for all characters, like a low poke, or like you mention with jumping away, something that is most effective across the board. I haven't had anyone to spar with lately and was hoping someone might know.
The problem being with slide is that normally a slide would be lets say 'B F 4' the opponent is jumping over you again and again, you press slide buttons and it is picked up as 'F B 4' .. leaving you open.
If you notice the player continually jumping over and over 'U 1' is good.
But i swear i almost threw the controller at the wall yesterday and vowed never to play again, some players just pissed me off doing crossover punches the whole goddamn matchup, at some points he actually hit me when i wasn't blocking but then jumped over my head and hit me again, i think he was just used to doing that move that he was surprised it hit and was so used to spamming it. God that was infuriating.
The cross over punch i really can't stand because almost every player i encounter is doing it 50% of the match and it makes down blocking useless. So ive found the best defence against this is... catch them in the trap before they catch you.
Crossover punch, or jump, is a problem ..... some players actually know well how to do it, catching the perfect time to do it, and so, they "trap" you in block stun instance, using next some combo with frame advantage, or just throws, and so, you fall on that.
It's an annoying situation sometimes to deal with, hehe XD
