Alt costumes could have been MUCH better.

Some of the alt costumes in the games are good, or at least decent. Some are bad also. But overall I'm content with them. But they could have been MUCH better. After seeing multiple character's endings I was shocked at how cool looking the alts in the endings looked VS the ones in-game. I'll put picture in spoiler tags so you can view each character at your own risk.

A lot of them are barely different. These alts would have been cooler if they were based off the past MK's instead.

Yeah, Kung Lao, Sub-Zero, Kano, Noob, and Scorpion's Alternate Costumes were very similar. Reptile and Ermac's just looked like slightly more ornate versions of their Primaries

Plus side was Johnny Cage, Shang Tsung, Jax, Smoke, and Nightwolf all had cool Alternate Costumes.
 
Well, almost all the chick alts (except from Kitana) were just pure awesomeness ^^. Kitana just got screwed over so badly with that MJ nose it was just horrendous D:
 
I want Smoke's retro we saw at the beginning of story right after Raiden sent the message back in time. Cant wait to have all the ninja's with those retro's

I'm a big fan of the Klassic costumes (I pre-ordered and got Sub-Zero), but Smoke's Alternate Costume is pretty cool, in my opinion.
 
I gotta disagree, I think some of the alts are awesome. I love the idea of cyrax and sektor having human versions of themselves, and I also liked smoke and ermac's alt. I like the way some of the alts represent the characters at different points in the story as well. Imo they did a better job w/ the alts than they usually do.

One complaint I have however is that human sub-zero essentially represents both sub-zero's. His main is the younger and his alt is the older (might have that wrong). Other than that, imo the alts and the whole game have been brought up a notch.


Side note: I was fearful about the affect WB would have on this game, but tbh I think something about it brought this game to the next level. Maybe they just had more funding or something, who the **** knows.
 
Yeah, some of them were just cop outs, a lot were ok, but some of them were awesome. I'm just glad I don't have to pay extra for them... (I'm looking at you SF4).

And even though some are just a bit different, that can be enough. Like, my mains are Sheeva and Sindel, and their alts aren't that different, but I like them a little better then their primaries.
 
So call me a moron, but I unlocked all the alt costumes via the Krypt. Then went in to the other thing whatever its called, to "claim" them.

I still can't figure out how to change costume when playing a match though. How do you do it? PS3

Press start in the character select screen.
 
I usually play as Nightwolf, and I think his alt is pretty sweet. He probably killed the wolf with his bear hands.
 
I don't think Noob's alt is lazy - it is just a palette swap of his outfit when he was alive as Sub-Zero. Makes sense. His normal costume as Noob Saibot adds some layers over that to obscure the comparison.

Also, Nightwolf's alt is awesome.
 
I hated ninjas like Noob Saibot and Sub-Zero's alts. like, seriously? It's just the same thing without the flared shoulders (Sub-Zero) or the hood (Noob Saibot).

I like subzero's alt because you can play with Kuai Liang or with Bi Han, you choose, thats awesome, and they have different voices, what i would like is they having different intros too, Bi Han could use the one from story mode "You will feel the cold embrace of death", because the cyborgs have different intros in his human alts, SZ should too.
