A question about Subzero's ground freeze

Does this move work even if the opponent presses "BLOCK"?
And can the leg stuck opponent still punch Subzero?

i dont think its blockable, and the player tries to pull his leg out when hes stuck so you cant punch,,

and i heard that the player has to be on the ground for it to work, if they jump onto it after its layed down they dont slip or get stuck... which sucks imo

Too bad.
If the opponent could punch back, it would've been more balanced - unblockable but still doesn't leave you completely vulnerable.
It also would've been funny to watch someone jump on it, slip and hit the back of their head... :)

When he makes the ground freeze, it disappears instantly if it does not catch the other player.

It should stay on the field for a few seconds, & If they jump on it they should slip !!!
This is one thing that I would like to see added in the final version.

It was an integral part of Sub-Zero's gameplay mechanic.
You can lay the puddle down to prevent them from jumping forward,... ect
Oh-well.
I am surprised no one has been discussing this as much.

Also to do his ground freeze move in the demo takes way too long.

I thought so as well. Although his Enhanced version can cover the whole screen making it useful since you can actually get it off at a distance. It's also a handy move if you get them in the corner, but overall it does take quite some time to pull off the move.

Sub Zero's ground freeze is about as worthless in this game as Kabal's ground blade was in MK3. It's WAAAAY too slow, and if you get hit or if it doesn't hit them, it disappears right away. It definitely needs to be a little bit faster and stay on the ground at least a second or two. It's a cool move, but against the AI or a smart player, you'll almost never land it. So sad.

Yeah literally every single time I try to do his ground ice against a local player I *always* get punished. Sucks :(

First of all, I LOVE Subby in this game. My favorite of the four that I've been able to mess around with. I don't think he's slow, like most people for some reason seems to believe and he has some amazing and damaging combos.

But... The ground freeze is really bad. As it is now I think they might aswell take it out. They NEED to change it. Only time I can get the opponent stuck in it is if I've knocked him down and he stands up on the exact moment that I freeze the ground. And quite frankly, that never works for me against a human player only the AI. So I'm dissapointed with this move but then again, I simply do not use it. He has so many other moves that are great.

All said is true, takes to long and doesn't last. The enhanced version is the only good point. I can usally throw a freeze ball then an enhanced ground freeze to trick my friends into blocking just to scream DAMNIT!

Another thing I really hate is the fact you can't use it at the end of combo :C I'd like to be able to switch it out with freezeball in my combos every now and again. It's completly useless. Gimmie the ice teleport instead. Omg i loved it.

Yeah, the ground freeze is definitely just way too slow. I wish they would of used the ground freeze from MK 2 where they slip. Or just speed up the ground freeze a bit would be better.

I was hoping that would be a programming issue in the demo and it would be fixed for the future. One can only hope.

Yeah it seems like the designers wanted the ground freeze to only be useful in combos. Actually only the EX ground freeze is useful in combos...

I agree. The enhanced ground freeze is actually useful. (sort of) But the regular one might as well not be in the game at all. I hope in the final build it's faster. In the PAX build it was still useless.

I think they're just trying to avoid one of the big problems in MK2. There were certain players who were able to be extremely cheap with Sub's ground freeze. It took a lot of practice, but some people were able to pretty much use it to where it was impossible to get away from.

I wonder if tweaking a move like this could be a possible online update if what they did doesn't turn to work out well.

Worthless move. I'm not sure I can even use sub-zero as my main man anymore with some of the changes. I'm not raggin on the game, just dissapointed with some of subs changes.

Sub Zero is still a fun character to play, and he has some good combos. Here's my impression on him so far from both the demo and the PAX build.

He is easy to pick up if you are a casual player and only do specials and short combos.

He is hard to master if you like long chain combos. He has no good pop ups, so in a tag match, his partner makes a huge difference in his combo abilities.

His slide move has been gimped because now you can't use it while the opponent is on the ground. It goes right through. So you have to time your combos so you're ending it with the slide before they hit the ground.

His ground freeze is, as we said, practically worthless.

His X-Ray goes right through you if you're too close when you use it. Unless it's working as a counter of course. I like the fact that you have the option to use it either way.

My advice if you want to do some bigger combos is this.... Combo INTO the freeze. Don't start with it. And don't use 2, 1, 2 then freeze. That does work, but the position and distance the opponent ends up in makes it hard to follow with anything other than one or two hits.

I like using f+4, then freeze, then your longer chain comob. Or b+1, 2, freeze... etc.

He's a good character, just not easy to master and some of his moves aren't very effective.
