The December 2005 update to the Xbox backwards compatibility list for the Xbox 360 has been posted and Mortal Kombat: Deception has been removed from the list.

In our Mortal Kombat: Deception on Xbox 360 feature from two weeks back, we exposed the numerous flaws in the Xbox 360 emulation of the original Xbox version of Mortal Kombat: Deception, rendering the fighting game portions virtually unplayable. We contacted Midway with our findings shortly after we published our feature and it appears that Microsoft has responded in this latest update with removing the title from the list.

What does all of this mean? At the least it means that Microsoft is aware of the problems and removal may well mean that they are working on fixing them.

I honestly hope that they do fix this problem. Deception was a great game, and it is well needed on the 360 platform.

Total suckiness. XBOX360 needs backwards compatability if it want's to compete with the PS3. Congrats to TRMK for busting down on a multi-million(perhaps billion) dollar company ;)

TRMK 1 - Microsoft's craplation of deception 0

I don't know why I'm even responding to this as my bro has no plans to buy a x-box 360 (or a x-box in fact).

I wonder how many other titles will experience probs like this. Still, surely they must of CHECKED this before adding it to the list? If they hadn't it means downing anything off their list is a case of 'do at own peril'.

Its funny but this does sound like good news. If MS plans to fix the incompatibility (likely) then that'll benefit gamers, in the long run. Its a shame that backwards compatibility is emulated, but its a small price to pay for a newer, more powerful system.

Sidenote, all those ppl just itching to buy a PS3 need to remember that the PS3 may not be 100% backwards compatible. Its kinda pointless to compare a new system with one that hasn't been officially released yet.

I agree. If it was all messed up then they should take it off the list. I don't even have an x-box 360 but I've seen pictures and videos and it is all messed up.
