[NOW WITH VIDEOS] As previously reported earlier in the week, Microsoft announced that Mortal Kombat: Deception would be one of the first Xbox games to be backwards compatible with their new console, the Xbox 360. While the Xbox 360 isn't due to be released until this Tuesday, TRMK has gotten a hold of the Xbox 360 early this weekend, and we expose several issues in our special feature: Mortal Kombat: Deception on Xbox 360.
Unfortunately, the fight scenes are emulated fairly poorly. The game camera keeps getting blocked by polygons that pop over the action constantly. The character I was playing with would develop some polygons stretching out past the camera view. It would only get worse the next round, as I find some stages are worse than others. The game started to slow down and redraw polygons across the camera surface, totally making the game unplayable. In one stage the screen was completely covered in a rainbow of polygons, so bad that I had to force a reboot of the system to quit out of the game.

Well, I'm probably going to ask a noobish question but here it goes. From what I gather, the PS3 is supposed to be able to play PS1 and PS2 games, and there's really no issue with if it's going to be able to play a certain game or not, so I don't understand why it's such an issue with the 360. :?

Actually with the PS3, they'll have to do the same thing they do with the 360. The problem is that the games are created on old hardware that is dramatically different from the new hardware. So they have to create emulation to make the old games playable. This sadly can be troublesome.

And some PS2s can't run all PS1 games, and some are having problems reading even some PS2 games. There is actually talk of the PS3 not being 100% backwards compatible actually.

And here is an excellent guide on Xbox 360 backwards compatiblity and how it works.

That's sort of a bummer, from what It sounds to me. MKD isn't the Xbox 360's cup of tea?

Can't wait for the video's. :D

Heh, this is really offtopic...But does the Xbox controlers have Power-on buttons on them? Shit, wouldnt it be simple to just point your controller into your friends direction and screw there game up? :?

The big silver Xbox Guide button is the power button for your console. If you hold that button down, the Xbox will start up. Now if you're curious how that works if you've got two Xbox 360's in the room, well if first have to "connect" the controller to the console by pressing the little white button to the right of the memory unit slots on the console. Then you press the small white button in the middle of the front edge of the controller. You can turn off the console in the Xbox 360 Guide. Plus the controllers work on RF and not IR like most remote controls.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up for me. The wireless part got me a bit confused, In my old computer class, the lack-wit of a teacher decided everyone should have wireless mouses, it was fun fucking with the teachers computer ;).

Anyways, good coverage and images, I'm not here to complain...But...Arent the images ...A little small? They're coming in pretty tiny for me, but I can't wait for the Video footage! :D

anone kow what causes the blurred long polygons effect you guys have shown us here?

My PC gets the same thing with Black and White and morrowind all the time. I'm curious since the X-Box is simulair built to a PD really.

Try updating your video card drivers, and give that a shot.

 Wow that quality sucks. I hope the PS3's version is better. How hard it must have been to play with all those stupid ranbows flashing around...

From playing gamesthat ended up going like that... Its no walk in the walk with them, I think here will be the same.

BTW - Thanks Patrick, but my Video card is up to date... This has been happening for a while now. I'll take it in the shop after christmas when the x-mas rush is over.
