Ideas for MK11

For plot, I'll work with the plot idea I had in another thread.

Albeit with some modifications....

During the Netherrealm War, Jade was destroyed as a revenant by Tanya during a botched invasion on Outworld, but her soul was harvested by an unknown force and she was reborn in the Dream Realm, recreated by a mysterious shimmering goddess. This "goddess" did not reveal her name to Jade but gave her a mission, a task that would take years to complete. Jade's new master sent her back into the physical world to collect all 7 of the kamidogus and bring them back to the Dream Realm.

It took 25 years for Jade to collect all the kamidogu relics, evaded both "good" and evil forces and risked dying once more to do so, but she succeeded, the kamidogus had been collected in the Dream Realm. With their power combined, the shimmering goddess began to merge the 2 alternate universes created by Raiden's paradox.

Now...the 2 timelines, Raiden's altered present and the doomed original timeline, will converge into one, bringing with it heightened conflict.

Story coming soon....

Why in the world would they waste their time in making a game that wasn't even good at all? And what in the world would be the point of it coming to the story now when there's no reason to?

Netherrealm's writers pulled the "time traveling" card. Whenever some writer pulls out a random time traveling move, it's to basically clean up the mess they made.

Unless the story has it where time traveling is perfectly legit to have, such as the Timesplitters series, anyone who goes back in time to fix something in the story is basically to rewrite stuff that they fvcked up.

I wasn't talking about MKA's story... Im just saying that it should be all the stuff I posted with a different story.

They shouldve kept KAFighter but not KAFatality.

________________________________________________________________

What I hated about MKX is the fact that there's ONE UNLOCKABLE CHARACTER. WTH? MK9 HAD 2, MK8 HAD 4, MKD HAD 12! Then we get 4 DLC CHARACTERS IN THE LAST 2 GAMES. I really wish they had wayyyyy more unlockable characters. They better not do this in MK11.

They shouldn't include over so many characters because, in your opinion, it'll make things better for the next game. Having less is more. Having a giant roster doesn't necessarily make things better. It means that if the quality that went into X went into over 60+ characters, that means they'll have to work on every single character and make them individually unique and completely different from one another. While I know that they can have two characters with similar abilities play completely different, I don't think they can have the ability to take a giant roster like Armageddon's and make everyone play completely different. Sure, they can take all the time in the world to make it possible, but I just don't see it happening nor do I have a lot of faith that they could pull off a task like that.

You feel that while they add all these characters plus several new ones, you think a good story could come out of that? Take a look at Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. This movie tried having every single character that has existed in Mortal Kombat up to that date in this movie. I'm even counting Stryker and Kabal because their names were mentioned. Look what you ended up with. You had Mileena who could have been passed for anyone because her name was never mentioned once but somehow dressed similar towards Kitana. You have Sub-Zero, who only existed in this movie to please the Scorpion vs Sub-Zero fan boys/girls. (Honestly, take him out, his no-show would have no effect on the story at all) Scorpion who's appearance made no freaking sense. Rain and Ermac who served no purpose. Sheeva was a laugh, Johnny was killed immediately at the start. I think the only character who had nothing with this movie was Kung Lao. (I think there's one more character, but as far as I can remember, Kung Lao was never mentioned nor seen in this movie.)

Granted that's just a movie, but it's a prime example of how having too many characters in one game cannot make for a decent story. And Netherrealm Studios' writers are not the kind of writers who can make a story seem great. I'm sorry, they just suck at writing stories. I didn't have that much of a problem with X's story, but it was not a flawless one. I really just don't have faith in them ever since they whipped out the damn time travel card.

You also want "lots of dlc" why? People have and will continue ing about DLC, and why should they have to pay for this and that when it shouldn't be like that? Costumes are sure nice, but I think it's quite dumb that costumes need to be bought in order to have them rather than just being unlocked. Characters, yeah, but with a roster with sixty+ characters, why continue to add more? Guests... I think they can stop with the guests for a bit. For the next game, they really shouldn't have to create a guest character just for some more cha-ching.

You're also complaining that they should go back into having unlockable characters. I'd like that too, but unfortunately we live in a world today where people are dying to hack stuff before the game is released. And Netherrealm Studios/Midway have always been great when it comes to keeping things a secret, not letting us know a single thing about what they have in store for us. Had 2011 never got hacked, who would have seen the whole Cyber Sub-Zero character? No one, that is until someone managed to beat the game immediately and post about it online. Even Mileena's "naughty" costume was leaked, and they were sure as hell taunting us that we'd appreciate the 300th tower's end gift. They could try to do it again, but people are either too greedy and want things immediately handed to them, or they want to spoil everything for themselves and everyone else.

I know I seem a bit harsh about this, but you cannot possibly think a good game could come out if they were to make another Trilogy/Armageddon just to make it "legendary". Sorry, they had their chance in doing something great with Armageddon and it failed miserably. A crossover game literally saved their asses before heading into complete disaster. They should not have to rely on the past to come up with better ways to improve their game. Listening to their fanbase is one thing they should do. When companies start listening to their fan base, they'll have better results in their games.

I mean for heaven's sake, look at Blizzard's World of Warcraft: Legion and all the stuff they're adding. All of that was due to listening to the fan base... It took them a bit, but they listened, and many, many people made Gamescon a success with a hell of a lot of people tuning in for their announcement (Don't believe a Warcraft player?) And I am fairly certain that not too many people would go up to Netherrealm's developers and say "please do an Armageddon-like game again." I don't see too many positives about that game.

And no to create a character. There's no need for it with this series.

I have a feeling Jade will be a boss character in MK11. Why?

1. The woman in Jade's MK9 ending also appeared in Kitana's MKX ending (the ghostly figure of Jade) as confirmed by one of the staff membvers of NRS.

2. Jade is the FIRST FEMALE MK BOSS!

I can see her being either a sub-boss/semi-final boss, a secret boss, the final boss, or the BONUS boss (like how Kyo and Iori were in King of Fighters '99). All I know is that Jade's comeback would be an AWESOME SURPRISE! ;)

The boss of MK11 is either Kitana or a male character, as the canon ending of MKX makes explicitly clear.

I don't recall anyone Tweeting about the woman appearing in Kitana's ending through Jade.

Not to mention, I know Jade has a large fan base, but she does not look boss-worthy material. What would be the purpose for her to become the next threat? Why would she not be apart with the other revenants? I can see maybe the woman possessing her made Quan Chi unable to control Jade, but I don't see this woman using Jade's body to suddenly make her become a threat.

Not to mention, while yes the body belongs to Jade, a completely new soul would take over her thus making her not really Jade.

And besides, making Jade a boss makes as much sense as doing the same to Blaze...and the latter already happened. I doubt they'd ever do THAT again.

Plus, Jade will never be anything more than Kitana's sidekick. Putting her in a lead role is the same as putting Robin in the lead role of a Batman film.

Really? Because I could have sworn Sindel's biography said that Jade was the one that helped her out from being captive by the Dragon King. That Jade could fight against her daughter, Sindel could not.

Jade did most of the fighting while Sindel just stayed in the back, deciphering a spell. Granted that Sindel also "killed" Onaga (I use that loosely since basically everyone killed him in their ending) Jade did more than Sindel in her own story. She also hunted down Tanya as well, and took her out.

She doesn't seem so side-kicky in Deception. Assisting and being a side-kick have different meanings. Please understand them better.

Sindel was the one calling the shots. Chain of Command...

Really? Looked more like they were setting up Dark Raiden for a final boss.

Kitana or Liu wouldn't make much sense. Especially Kitana who was getting her a** kicked around like nothing during the final assault near the end of the game. Then again, NRS isn't very consistent with the power levels of their characters, so who knows...

Still, I highly doubt Kitana will be a final boss. Or Jade, as Nasty seems to think.

Personally I want someone completely new for the final boss. Even if Dark Raiden gets the position, I'll be pissed.

-Oh, glad to see the woman from Jade's ending is still being talked about-

As much as it was hinted at the fact that Liu Kang/Kitana/Dark Raiden will all be playing important roles in the story to come, I would rather not have any of them as final bosses.

My main reason is that I want to be at least some-what surprised about who the big bad is. It was a bit of a let down to me when Shinnok was revealed as the big bad in MKX just because there wasn't any surprise to it. I guess from a writer's perspective they were going for the players to think "oh, Shinnok is obviously a big bad candidate, but that's just too obvious; it can't be him" just to find out it actually was him in a fake-out surprise. I personally hate that technique though. Because after that initial shock, in the end it was technically predictable.

Already people are coming up with theories about who the big bad is based on hints from MKX story mode and ladder endings (Kang/Kitana/Raiden/Shang Tsung as examples). I wouldn't mind any of those four to play major roles in the story. But, I think, because theories essentially show predictability, I would want the "obvious bad guy" to end up as a red herring from the true surprise threat, whoever that ends up being.

To that end, I think my most preferable candidate as the big bad in MK11 would either be a completely new character so there aren't any pre-conceived notions on established character arcs/motives that ends up driving the character towards a predictable path, or someone that hasn't been getting much spotlight in a while so as to give an excuse of a more clean-slate motive as a big bad.

I agree with everything else you said, minus this part.

I 100% know for a fact that in 2010 when Ed Boon kept saying at every post-E3 interview that "a character who wasn't cyber before will be cyber this time around" in MK9, that TRMK blew up with 2 or 3 speculation threads about "Sub-Zero being turned cyborg" and topics along that line of thought.
It wasn't really THAT far-fetched, after Ed Boon said that, to guess who it would be.
Jax? Possibly.
What other organization has been known for making people into cyborgs in the MK universe, though? The Lin Kuei.
Cyrax is already known as a cyborg, as is Sektor, and Smoke being a cyborg wouldn't really be a surprise, given that he was a cyborg before.
The only 1 left out of the 4 Lin Kuei members was Sub-Zero.
Cyber Sub-Zero being shown on the roster just confirmed those suspicions that people had.

Someone knows their MK history. Jade is Kitana's bestie never her sidekick. Jade in every sense is her own woman

To tell you the truth, I honestly forgot about that. I was sorta avoiding these kinds of forums because I didn't want to be spoiled at all. But yeah I remember now that this was mentioned.
