It's so hot here that I barely dare to turn on my PC in the last couple of days. I practiced a bit with Tremor and apparently the latest patch solved the burning issues - CPU usage is back to normal and the game didn't crash during training. Sad news that it's worth noting nowadays...
About HVS: on the contrary, I think it was a false rumor that they were fired. Q-Loc had only one entry in that log file and none other since then. Maybe they helped HVS with something or they did something else, maybe it was only about some sort of Eastern European support as they are partners of Cenega who sell the game in that region.
Nevertheless, whoever fixed some issues, the game seems to be in a good shape, maybe the best since its release. MKX run pretty well for me after 04/25 patch besides the memory leak. Then came Jason patch on 05/05, it was killing my CPU, lagging like hell and MK10.exe were running in the background after exit. Tanya patch was a little better, performance was smoother but CPU usage was still high and ending animations were lagging. I re-installed the game and then lagging and exe running in the background were eliminated for me.
Predator patch was another disaster, it sent us back to day one. Training mode crashes, screen freezing in Endless Tower after twenty-something opponents, CPU usage was sky-high and even my GPU driver crashed on start-up as GPU usage jumped up to 99% as I started the game.
And here we are, Tremor is in, I'm yet to play a full Tower but hopefully we're free of major issues. Kitana has a move in Assasin that is always performed as a meter burned version and Predator's hair has some animation issues during a Fatality but to be honest I couldn't care less. If that's our biggest problem then I'm glad. Oh, and Klassic Fatality Pack 2 is missing in PC version but still - all of these are minor issues for me after 3 months full of bugs.
I'm torn right now about future DLCs. DLC kombatants turned out way better than I expected, but I'm always scared of any future patches to mess my game up again.
