Who wants new costumes for new characters

Seriously I mostly main new characters and I'm tired of choosing the same 2 costume meanwhile the old characters practically have wardrobes of costumes

Seriously its as if the old characters are valley girls who are mostly worried about shoping and the new characters are a bunch of poor kids who consider not getting hit by their drunken dad a good day
 
Me. I know people say "Well the old characters have more history and the new don't." BS, they could do stuff like the Kold War skins or the Samurai Pack.
 
Yeah, it's almost a necessity to me to be honest, Kold War could've literally went to anybody, Quan Chi is the only non-new character who I think needs a new costume, his alternate is awful. I liked the look of Tundra Sub Zero, but I didn't buy it because I don't need any more costumes for Sonya/Sub same with Lao/Kang/Cage.

I'd like Something like:

Black Dragon Pack: Kano emperor like, Erron BD disguised, Tremor 'Classic'

Generations Pack: Takeda Kenshi inspired, Cassie classic Cage/Sonya inspired, Jin Lao inspired, Jacqui classic Jax inspired (Making Use of Classic costumes while feeling brand new)

Just costumes that explore the lore more, with a nice little nod to the realms (Orderrealm Takeda anyone?) I find costumes can really revive a character for me anyway
 
Well, none of them would be free, so it comes down to what sort of stuff we're willing to pay for. I absolutely love Kotal (best new character in years, and hopefully a major player again in MK11) and would definitely pay for a new skin for him, assuming it was good quality and not some sort of weird novelty ala the Brazil skins.

I'd like a couple of new skins for Shinnok (klassic MK4 and some sort of Elder God-themed skin) but I'm not sure he'll get anymore; perhaps a God-themed pack featuring Shinnok, Raiden and Kotal (maybe not a real god as Rain says, but proclaimed as such by his people).

Tremor will probably get a brown UMK3-style skin at some point, though maybe not straight away. Boon's had requests for one, and those klassic ninja skins are all going to be free anyway. I hope he does, anyway, 'cuz he's definitely part of the ninja crew.

Aside from Kotal, I'd maybe be tempted buy skins (in a pack, not individually) for Erron Black and Ferra/Torr. Possibly D'Vorah. I don't play any of those (yet!) but they're all good characters, and I enjoy playing against them. The only new character I genuinely find disappointing is Jacqui, because she's bland and Cassie essentially has the same role but done a lot better. I think she could and should have been an NPC, along with her mother.

So yeah, I'm definitely up for seeing DLC costumes for the new characters - especially Kotal - and if they're well-made and an interesting theme that suits the MK universe I'll consider buying them. So far the only ones I've bought are Blue Steel Sub-Zero (looks great and I wanted to support the tourney guys) and the Horror Pack, because IMO they're by far the best skins released so far and they look perfect within the game, whereas the other packs either don't appeal to me personally (Kold War) or look so out of place that I'd even dislike the AI using them (Brazil).

More choice is always good, and cosmetic DLC is the best (and IMO in some cases, the only acceptable) form of DLC for a game. I hope to see some more, and optimistically even a second Kombat Pack (not because I'd immediately buy it - I didn't buy this one - but because I enjoy the variety and it's nice that some people's favourite characters are added to the roster).

The new characters can get more kostumes in future games. They need to pay their dues in this game first though.

To make matters worse, some of the characters have costumes that look too similar to be worth it. Scorpion has the least interesting choices, in my opinion, in spite of having the most costumes.

It could be free if they decided to make them free, which is what's even more annoying.


Aside from the fact that the laziest thing for NRS to do is UMK3 "ninja" palette-swap costumes, I don't understand why instead of Sub-Zero and Reptile (and presumable Scorpion and Ermac) UMK3 skins, why we can't get some alternate Cassie, Takeda, Kung Jin and Jacqui skins or some Kotal, Ferra / Torr, D'Vorah and Erron Black skins.
Instead of doing the UMK3 ninjas, they could have also done 1 free skin with an update patch for some of the new characters.

Because Sub-Zero, Reptile, Scorpion, and Ermac have had more long-term popularity than the likes of Cassie, Kung Jin, Jacqui, Takeda, etc. Once the new characters establish long-term popularity of their own, THEN they can get more skins.

They really stopped caring when it came to the new characters' alts. Torr and Kotal probably have the best of the bunch, but all the others are really uninspired.
 
Quan Chi needs a new skin ASAP. I wish he would have one of the non-canon outfits like a samurai or Koldwar one.

Hasn't he been konfirmed to be getting a Klassic Kostume? I'm hoping for his DotR/Mythologies/MK4 one.

Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reptile and Ermac already got Klassic skins in MK9.
Time to move on.
MKX IS about the new generation of MK fighters, whether you like it or not.
Cassie even defeated Shinnok single-handedly, which should get her another alt skin just on that merit alone, since she is technically EarthRealm's NEW Champion and defender.
Plus, Scorpion and Sub-Zero already have like 5 or 6 costumes each (I lost count).

He's only ever had 2 costumes lol. MK4 and MK5. And since he was wearing the MK5 costume in the last game, I imagine MK4 is the only choice.

Characters with established popularity have earned the right to be in as many MK games as their fans' hearts desire. Hated characters deserve to be given the Hsu Hao treatment.

Such is the reality of the business end of gaming.

MK should NEVER have an SF3-type roster. WB will NOT get a return on their investment with that type of roster.

Okay but NRS now know what characters are popular now so its not that hard to give at least some of the characters new costumes, hell Erron & Cassie are in the top 10 of the number of players use and I bet a lot of those guys, including me would buy good money for costumes

The Original Seven should be the Permanent Seven.

As a matter of fact, put MK on a floating timeline just like The Simpsons, South Park, and Family Guy. Or better yet, give every MK character the Edenian Lifespan (Native Earthrealmers included).

Way to exaggerate there.
I wasn't talking about going SF3 route, but some characters like Johnny, Sonya, Jax and Kung Lao can sit out for a game or 2, now that Cassie, Jacqui and Kung Jin are in.
Give Kung Jin a mournful variation in MK11 with Kung Lao's hat, and you're good to go. :p
Plus, I'm pretty sure that most of the Mk1 thru UMK3 characters that aren't Scorpion and Sub-Zero can be swapped for 1 another (swap Kabal for Jax, swap Smoke for Ermac, etc, etc, etc).

No, they should not.
Aren't you the one who's always saying that Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden and Liu Kang are the only 4 that are needed for MK games?
So, fine, let Sonya, Kano and Johnny sit out for a bit.
Plus, I'm pretty sure that Kitana and Mileena have surpassed Sonya in popularity.

I'm SOOOOO glad that you don't work at NRS.
I hope that the parents sit out in MK11 and we get 4 more new characters, along with the 8 new ones that we got for MK11.
12 post-MK9 characters sound good for MK11.

I basically agree with this, in spirit if not in semantics (Edenian lifespan, eh; and it's closer to the Original Thirteen for me). I've had my fill of pointlessly high character turnover with the Warcraft series.
